Chapter Forty Five: The Battle Begins

I woke up to the sound of silence and quickly sat up noticing it was morning. Edward must of not woke me up and I knew his excuse would be for me to get some rest. I ran my hand through my hair knowing today was the day. The people I cared about were going to fight to save my own. I placed a flannel around myself before leaving the tent seeing how fresh the snow was almost untouched if it wasn't for paw and footprints.

As a child, I always thought snow was to bring happiness and joy and I think after today, snow would only remind me of whatever took place today. I was hoping for a good reminder. A growl caught my attention with the sight of Bella and Seth in wolf form coming from the trees carrying wood for the fire.

" Hi, Seth." I greeted before turning to Bella seeing how pale she was against the white scenery."Where's Jacob and Edward ?"

" They went to go check to see if the woods are clear before Jake goes." She explained dropping the logs on the floor while Seth kept guard.

I nodded my head before piling some logs to make a fire since it wasn't getting hot any time soon." How come you didn't tell Jacob ?" I questioned.

She grew a bit paler at my question before biting her lip." I couldn't bare to tell him, Emma." She admitted.

" Bella, come on-"

" It's harder then you think, Emma." She snapped in defense.

" Of course it is, Bella." I said glancing at her stomach." He has to know before he heads down there."

" I can't !" Bella yelled back crossing her arms around her chest and glaring at me." He'll be distracted if I tell him now."

" Well, I told you to tell him last night."

" How on earth can I just tell Jacob I'm pregnant !" She screamed in a fit of anger. I glared at her ready to scream back when I noticed two figures poke out of the trees. I looked away from Bella realizing Edward and Jacob to return back except Jacob was in shock.

" You're pregnant ?" Jacob whispered enough for us both to hear.

Bella turned quickly, her body trembling in fear." Jake, I..." She started, but he turned around jogging towards the woods." Jacob, wait !"

" Bella-"

" Don't !" She barked at me in anger before racing after Jacob through the woods. I felt the guilt set into my stomach wondering what could happen. He knew the baby now and ran from Bella at the news. Was he going to run from her life ? His own child's life ? Edward slowly walked over to me and grabbed my hand rubbing circles with his thumb.

" Are you okay ?"

" Did she catch him ?" I asked wanting him to ease drop just for once.

He closed his eyes to focus before nodding his head." They're talking about it at the edge of the mountain side."

" Are they mad ?"

" They're crying." He explained." Jacob is not mad at her, but just at the fact that she kept it from him for so long."

" Is she mad at me ?" I whispered not wanting to hear a negative answer.

" No." He answered opening his eyes and touching my cheek." She's relieved her secret is out and that he knows. They're kissing now out of happiness."

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding grateful for the outcome." I'm so stupid. I should of kept my big mouth silent and not yell at her. Some great sister I am, huh."
