Chapter Twenty Two: Ignoring

Emma came down the stairs in her pajamas and went to make herself some coffee. It was quiet in the house. Already the super bowl. She was a bit surprised when she didn't hear Charlie yelling at the TV. She poured the coffee into the cup and walked into the living room seeing why. Charlie was passed out on the couch and Bella was doing homework.

" Hey Bella, I-"

" Give me one minute, Em. Jake." Bella said holding the phone to her ear. Emma looked over to her while she at on the couch slowly. She felt bad for Bella. Ever since the movies, Jacob hasn't called, texted, or reached out to any of them." Uh, your Dad says you have mono. He won't let me visit, but would you call me ? Bye."

It happened again and again. By night fall, Emma went to get a snack and when she was coming up the stairs, she heard Bella speaking in her room.

" Hey, uh, it's me again. I just...I'm sorry about what I said at the movie theater. I just wanted to hear your voice. So, no pressure." That was another thing to happen. At the movies, Jacob was about to ask what Bella thinks, was to be his girlfriend, but Mike ruined it. That's why Jacob got so mad and left. Bella believed it was something she said. It was a week later, Emma sat on the couch watching TV while Bella was at their phone.

" Jacob, please call me."

" Okay." Emma heard and turned seeing Charlie and Harry walk into the room." we should be back around three. Hey ! Look, I don't have to go fishing today."

" Yes, you do."

" Yeah, you do. Go. I'll watch, Bella and everything. Trust me. Just be careful. Call me if anything. Show no fear to the fish."

" I always am."

" Those bears won't get the drop on me, Emma. My kung foo is strong." Harry said making her laugh while she watched them leave. She turned around to see Bella staring out the window.

" Em." She said and turned around looking right at her sister. Emma couldn't even tell how Bella's face looked. The best word to describe it would be determined." Take me to Jacob's."

That's exactly where they went. Emma was beginning to think it was wrong for her to drive Bella to his house. What if he really did have mono ? What made it worst was the rain pouring. She was scared a accident could happen, but Emma knew she would do anything for her sister. When they got near his house. They saw a boy shirtless and short hair walking in the back yard.

" Oh my god, that's Jacob." Emma said parking the car still shocked when she saw him. What happened to him ? Is that even really him ? He was totally different and it reminded her of that Sam Uley person. Bella didn't care and got out the car running over with no hood on. Emma placed her hoodie up and ran into the rain.

" Jake ! Hey ! You cut your hair ? And got a tattoo ?" Bella asked, but he just stared at her like she was everything to him. Emma caught up to the two and looked at Jacob oddly seeing the way he was looking at her. No...staring deep into her soul. Emma huffed loudly hitting his shoulder.

" So your just going to stand there and stare at her all day ?" She said seeing Jacob finally blink noticing Bella and Emma's present." I thought you were too sick to come outside. Or pick up the phone when Bella calls. You're being an asshole."

" Go away."

" What ?"

" Speak up, Asshole."

" Go away." Jacob said, but this time he turned his head and looked to Bella, who looked heartbroken while Emma looked pissed off now drenched.

" What happened to you ? What's wrong ? Hey !" Bella said grabbing his arm tightly when he tried to walk away. She was a bit pissed, but at the same time weak." What happened? Did Sam get to you ? Is that what's happening ?"

" Sam's trying to help me, don't blame him."

" Well, you turned to him. Look at you ! What's your problem ?! Is Sam not letting you speak to Bella."

" If you want somebody to blame, How about those filthy bloodsuckers, you love ? The Cullens." Jacob said to Emma the same time a big lightning happened cracking in the air loudly. She swallowed the biggest lump in her throat feeling ice cold.

" What ?" Bella asked a bit confused. Emma looked up to Jacob, telling with her eyes that Bella does not know about them. Luckily, Bella didn't get what he was saying.

" You been lying to everyone. Charlie. To Bella ? But you can't lie to me. Not anymore, Emma."

" Come on ! Jacob !" They heard seeing in the distance was Sam and his boys. Jacob turned back to the girls and looked to Bella.

" Look, Bella. We can't be friends anymore."

" Jake, I know that I have been holding off your question. It's... it's killing me. It kills me. If you, may be, give me like some time."

" Don't ! It's not you."

" It's not you, it's me, right ?" Bella said slightly glaring at him." Really ?"

" It's true ! It is me. I'm not good. I used to be... a great kid. Not anymore. It doesn't even matter, alright ? This is over."

" You can't break up with me. I mean..." Bella said looking at the floor before she looked back up to him. Emma could tell the rain mixed with her tears a bit." I mean, you're my best friend. You promised me."

" I know. I promised that I won't hurt you, Bella and this is me keeping that promise. Go home and don't come back or you're gonna get hurt." Jacob said before jogging to the boys. Emma couldn't believe what she heard. It was like her ears were deceiving her. Jacob knew about vampires and he had left Bella in the rain. What the hell is going on ?
