Twenty Five

Jin Ae

Okay that was fast. I didn't know what got in to me when I grabbed his hand without second thoughts at all. His hand in front of me as if asking the whole me. All of me. But I didn't think. His palm, his hand became the most essential element of me. And here I am, without a doubt gave in.

When my palm met his, the warmth undoubtedly blended against mine. His hand, firm and strong but softness is still present which quite surprised me. A man so solid and strong is actually possessing hands so delicate. 

I look at our hands. His hands almost swallowing mine and it's doing something oddly but seriously good inside me. I totally like this. No doubt about that. And because of it, I smiled while shifting my gaze from our hands to the window beside me.

"Have you tried bungee jumping before?" Dae Hyun suddenly asked in the middle of my day dreaming. I didn't heard him at first so he asks again with a little squeeze on my hand, "Hey. Are you with me?"

"Yeap.. what did you say?"

"You're not listening" he laughed. Okay why is he laughing?

"What did I miss? Sorry I was thinking."

"I asked you if you have tried bungee jumping before. But as I can see, you're mind was somewhere else with that grin on your face. Seriously, am I the one missing something here?"

Okay. I wasn't grinning. Duh. I rolled my eyes.

"Wait. Did you just rolled your eyes on me?" He looked at me then on the road then back at me again arching his brow but with a tinge of smile on his face.

"I'm not doing anything." I shook my head but I rolled my eyes again. But just so you know, I did that on purpose. I just want to tease him. I'm this happy that I am starting to nudge him.

"There. You did it again!" He raised his hand the one holding mine and points a finger at me.

I shook my head and smiled. "So what about bungee jumping? I haven't tried it before."

"Really?" He looked surprised.

"Yes, why?" I answered.

"Me, neither."

I almost choke. This guy is starting to give me wonders. Sometimes he's hard and arrogant then one second he's saying non sense at all! Then I let out a big laugh.

"What's so funny?" he's puzzled.

"I thought you've done it before that's why you're asking!" I can't stop laughing. The look on his face when he asked me seriously gave me the idea that he really had done it.

He started to laugh as well but the moment he stopped, I got nervous. I have a feeling this is not gonna be nice.

"I want to try it....." he said.

Oh sheep! Don't say it. Don't say it!

"Today" he continued.

Oh God. I supposed to face palm myself using my left hand but when I was about to do so, he tightened his grip reminding me of our promise. I exhaled loudly then used my right hand instead.

Never in my wildest lives in my past hundred years had I tried bungee jumping. I mean, yeah I get it. It's the thrill and excitement the people are after but c'mon, there are lot of things more thrilling and more SAFE than doing that thing. I just don't get the logic.

The most thrilling thing I've done in my life probably when my soul was about 50 years old or something. I remember vaguely. I was born as a Filipina together with my twin. We lived in a suburban along the streets. My family weren't rich enough to afford a house in a subdivision but to all fairness, we were happy and contended. So there's this one night when our parents didn't went home so Joselin went out to buy for dinner. Much to my surprise, she bought this kind of egg we called 'Balot'. Joselin quite enjoyed it but for me, I almost died. That poor little chick died before he was even born and I can see its eyes popping like begging me to save his life. God, that was just gross. I think that was it. I never looked on eggs the same way ever again.
