"Let's meet at the park!"
Huh? The park? Out of nowhere?
"Sure. I'll be there in 10 minutes," I texted back, already wondering what Taehyung was up to.
When I got to the park, it was quiet—almost too quiet. The place looked totally deserted now that it was dark. And there, sitting on the swing like some moody drama lead, was a familiar figure.
"Taehyung?"
He turned around with that signature boxy smile, and just like that, I forgot how to breathe for a second. He gestured to the swing next to him, and I sat down without question.
For a while, it was just... silent. He seemed lost in thought, and I didn't want to interrupt. But then, out of nowhere, he looked me straight in the eye and asked:
"Y/N, what's the most ridiculous thing you've ever done for love?"
What?! Where did that come from?
"Uh..." I stalled, looking up at the stars like they'd have an answer for me. "I don't know? I've never really been in love before."
Taehyung gave me this look—like he didn't buy it at all.
"Come on, Y/N. Someone as pretty as you? No way."
I let out a little laugh. "It's true! I mean, I've had a boyfriend before, but it wasn't love-love, you know? Just some middle-school crush kind of thing."
He nodded, staring up at the sky with this little smile. And wow, his side profile under the moonlight? Absolutely illegal. I caught myself staring and quickly looked away before he could notice.
"I guess I wouldn't know if I'd do something stupid for love or not," he said, trying to keep the conversation going.
Before I could even reply, Taehyung stood up suddenly and moved behind me, grabbed the swing chains and pulled me back.
"Taehyung, what are you—"
"Hang on tight!"
The next thing I knew, he was pushing me higher and higher, laughing like a little kid.
"Kim Taehyung, stop! I swear I'm gonna fly off this thing!"
"You'll be fine! Live a little!"
I couldn't help laughing too. It was both terrifying and ridiculously fun.
After we'd had enough of the swings (and my legs were officially jelly), I ran toward an ice cream parlor we'd passed earlier.
"Taehyung, hurry up! Why are you so slow? You're such a grandpa!"
"Oh, you're gonna regret saying that," he called back, picking up speed.
Before I could even process what was happening, he grabbed me, spun me around, and wouldn't stop until I was squealing like a maniac.
"Put me down, you maniac!"
When he finally did, he leaned in, our foreheads almost touching, and said, "I don't know what you're doing to me, but it's working."
WHAT. Did I hear that right?! My brain froze. My face turned into a human tomato.
"Uh, come on, grandpa—uh, I mean, Taehyung! Ice cream, let's go!" I blurted, practically sprinting into the shop. Smooth, Y/N. Real smooth.
A while later, we found ourselves sitting on some steps near the park. I was scrolling through my phone when it buzzed—SuMin was FaceTiming me.
"Sorry, I need to take this," I told Taehyung, stepping a little further away just in case.
