YOUR POV
A month has passed, and everything has been surprisingly well. Jimin and I have been incredibly happy since we officially started dating. However, I say "surprisingly" because ever since that incident with Reese, she's been unnervingly nice to me—almost too nice, and I can't help but wonder what her real intentions are.
Since Jimin and I started dating, the boys would always invite me over to their dorm, even though I didn't want to, knowing Reese and Taehyung might be there. But they'd always insist that it was fine, so I went anyway.
In contrast to Reese's odd behavior, Taehyung has been the opposite—always annoyed and distant. I've moved on from my feelings for him since I'm with Jimin now, but how he acts when we're all together at the dorm makes me feel a bit uneasy sometimes. I try my best to approach him, but he just cuts me off and walks away. I remember one time he was cooking and asked Jin for help, but Jin was busy, so he asked me to step in since I also cook.
-- flashback --
"Tae, Jin asked me to help you since he has a lot to do. What do you need?" I said, approaching him in the kitchen. Taehyung looked at me, frowned, and then returned his attention to the dish he was preparing.
"As far as I remember, your name is not Jin," he replied, barely looking at me.
"Yes, but Jin told me to help you because he said you need it." Stay calm, Y/N. Stay calm.
"Yes, I need help. But I need Jin hyung's help. Not yours," he snapped, his tone sharp as he aggressively stirred the pan.
"Didn't you hear what I said? I said Jin asked me to help you." I was starting to get frustrated.
"Didn't you hear what I said? I need Jin hyung's help, not you," Taehyung shot back, raising his voice at me.
"Shit!" Just as I opened my mouth to respond, the pan flipped over, and everything spilled onto the floor. Taehyung looked furious, and I couldn't help but move closer to help him clean up.
"Why do you keep coming to me?! Just go to Jimin!!!" He dropped his apron and stormed off, leaving me alone to clean up the mess in the kitchen.
-- end of flashback --
It's a busy Monday, and I'm always looking forward to the end of my shift, knowing that Jimin will pick me up. He usually takes me on a date or drives me home if he has recordings or practices to attend to.
Looking at my watch, it's almost time to go, so I quickly cleaned up and changed my clothes. I finished preparing exactly at 5 p.m., so I rushed out of the locker room, said goodbye to everyone in the kitchen and to my boss, and then looked for Jimin.
I scanned the area but didn't see him. Weird. He's never like this—he always shows up on time. I checked my phone, but there were no messages from him. Maybe something happened. I decided to wait for him, so I sat down on one of the chairs and checked my phone again.
A few minutes passed, and still no sign of Jimin. I contacted RM and the other members to see if anyone knew where he might be, but no one had any idea. It was only Yoongi who said that Jimin had left the dorm during lunchtime after finishing a recording, rushing off somewhere. He had also left his phone at the studio, and it was turned off, probably dead.
I decided to just head home by myself. As I stood up, someone suddenly approached me, holding a bouquet of flowers. It was unexpected—way, way unexpected.
"What are you doing here, Taehyung?" I asked, surprised to see him.
"I... I heard Jimin wasn't able to pick you up, and nobody else could, so I decided to pick you up instead to make sure you get home safely. Uh... here, take this." Taehyung was looking down at his feet as he spoke. He was acting strange, almost... too polite. Last time I saw him, he looked like he wanted to rip my head off, but now he's being all gentlemanly?
"Uh... thanks. You don't have to." I hesitated, unsure of what was going on. "And Taehyung, I—"
"I'm sorry about last time too. I was just pretty upset." His voice softened, and I could see he meant it, but I still couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Shouldn't he be with Reese by now?
"It's okay, but you're not supposed to be here, Taehyung. Your girlfriend might be looking for you. I don't want to cause more drama with her."
"No, she knows I'm picking you up today because Jimin isn't around," he said, and for some reason, his words felt odd. Reese allowed him to do this? Why?
"Uhm... okay, let's go then."
As we walked toward the bus station, we passed by the store where Taehyung and I used to buy ice cream. I remember making him pay for mine after I won a game, and it made me smile. Taehyung noticed.
"You remembered that too?" he asked, a small smile tugging at his lips.
"What?"
"That ice cream you made me pay for? The most expensive one." I couldn't help but laugh at how he rolled his eyes after mentioning that I had picked the priciest ice cream in the store. Somehow, I missed having that kind of bond with Taehyung.
"Let's buy ice cream?" Taehyung suddenly suggested, and before I could protest, he dragged me to the counter and ordered the same ice cream we used to get.
As we ate our ice cream inside the store, I noticed a familiar face across the street, their backs turned to us. My heart skipped a beat.
"Taehyung, isn't that Reese?" I asked, pointing discreetly.
Taehyung turned his head and quickly scanned the street before saying, "Uh... no. I think that's not her. It must be someone else who just looks like her."
I saw the girl I was sure was Reese, holding hands with a guy and shopping bags in the other hand. It was definitely her.
"Taehyung..." I said again, but he didn't seem to want to talk about it.
"I told you, that's not her. Now finish your ice cream so we can both go home." He sounded annoyed now, back to his usual grumpy self.
I decided not to press it any further. I didn't want to make him angry.
"Thanks for walking me home and for the ice cream, Taehyung. Take care on your way back." I smiled as I looked up at him. It had been a long time since I last saw him this close.
Just as I was about to open the door to leave, Taehyung suddenly grabbed me from behind and hugged me tightly. I froze, not knowing how to react.
"I missed you, Y/N."
