FORTY FOUR

I cry as I look back at everything that's happened and I realize that after all the pain I've had these past few months, it's about time I deserve to be happy — and I know Jimin will take good care of my heart.

Plus, how could I even say no to this man? I smile and excitedly nod my head, allowing him to be my boyfriend. Jimin beams, his joy so contagious that I can't help but feel my heart flutter in response. Everyone begins running towards us, smiling and cheering loudly. They were happy. Genuinely happy. Jin hugs both of us tightly, and all the other members join in, while Hoseok stands on the side, wiping his tears. He was the happiest one for Jimin, knowing how long he had waited for this moment, how deeply Jimin's feelings for me ran from the start.

Jin, as always, makes dinner for everyone, and we enjoy the night together. Jungkook teases Jimin about the first time he saw me at the café, when he looked like he was going to kill me for buying the cake Jimin had picked for Yoongi's birthday. Everyone bursts into laughter, and the atmosphere is light and filled with joy. Soon enough, the time comes to rest.

"You okay here alone, Y/N?" Jimin asks softly as he tucks me into bed.

I nod, feeling the warmth of his hand on my cheek.

"Thank you so much for this day, Y/N. You've made me the happiest." His words are gentle, filled with so much sincerity that my heart aches. He caresses the side of my face as he looks at me like I'm the most precious thing in his world. What did I ever do to deserve this man?

"No, Jimin, YOU've made me the happiest. I'm sorry you had to wait for so long. Thank you for waiting for me. If I had known all along that it was supposed to be you and not Taehyung, I would have—"

"Shhh." Jimin places a finger to my lips, silencing me gently. "That's okay. I told you earlier, it was all meant to happen so it could lead you to me. Here's your plot twist." He chuckles, and I can't help but smile, adoring the way his face lights up when he laughs. He truly has the face of an angel, and I could never get tired of looking at him, especially when he's smiling.

"It's late. You should sleep now. I'll see you tomorrow morning." I involuntarily yawn, probably because I'm too tired from the day's events. Jimin stands, heading toward the door, but before he closes it, he looks back at me.

"Goodnight, beautiful." His words make my heart skip a beat, and I adjust myself under the duvet, my smile lingering as I drift into a deep, happy slumber.

JIMIN'S POV

Earlier

I just received Yoongi hyung's text message that they're already here, and the unease in my chest only grows.

"Ah, hyung, I don't think I can do this," I whine as I stand in front of the mirror, trying to calm my racing heart.

"What are you saying? You've waited long enough. Don't mess this up, Park Jimin," Hobi hyung says as he walks over to straighten my clothes.

"I'm just worried about what she might say. What if she says no? What if she's not ready yet? What if she doesn't like me? What if she still loves Ta—"

"Stop. Right. There." Hobi hyung covers my mouth before I can continue my anxious rambling. But what if she still likes Taehyung? I don't want to get hurt, and I don't want her to reject me.

"I told you, you've waited long enough. We wouldn't push you to do this if we weren't sure how she feels. We can see it in her eyes — how much she adores you. Maybe she hasn't realized it yet, or maybe she's scared to admit it, but once you're honest with her, she'll know that she feels the same. Just be truthful and tell her everything."

"—and don't worry about Taehole because that dummy doesn't even know what he just let go of. Break a leg, Park." Hobi hyung's words are a bit of a joke, but I can hear the sincerity in his tone. Just as he finishes speaking, Yoongi hyung peeks through the door, signaling that it's time.
