YOUR POV
A few days had passed, and it was just a regular Friday at work. The boys had invited me for a sleepover since it's been a while since we last hung out. I'd thought about it for days, weighing whether I should go or not, since being at the dorm would mean seeing Taehyung. I wasn't sure if I was ready for that yet. I mean, I know I'm okay now, thanks to the boys, but the idea of being in the same space as him felt awkward.
But, at the same time, I couldn't deny that I missed them all. I missed their laughter, their jokes, and even the weird little things we'd do on sleepover nights.
My shift was almost over when my phone rang, pulling me out of my thoughts. I excused myself from the kitchen to pick up the call. It was a familiar ringtone, one that I had associated with the boys for years now.
"Hello?"
"Noona!!! Are you ready for tonight?" Jungkook's voice rang through, and I could hear faint noises in the background. It made me chuckle, imagining the boys causing a ruckus. They were always so lively, even on a Friday night when they were supposed to be relaxing.
"Kookie, I'm—"
"You know we don't take no for an answer, Y/N." Yoongi's voice replaced Jungkook's, and I could hear Jungkook whining on the other end. I smiled a little at the sound of their banter.
"But Yoongi—"
"Look," Yoongi cut in, "if you're worried about Taehyung, he won't be here tonight. He's not coming back until Sunday morning. So, no worries." I froze for a moment, my mind racing. Why wasn't Taehyung going to be around until Sunday? Why was I even concerned about it? Get it together, Y/N.
I shook my head at myself, trying to push the thoughts away. It was just a sleepover with friends. Nothing to overthink.
"I'd be upset if you don't come, Y/N," Jimin chimed in, his voice full of that playful charm I loved so much. I could practically hear him pouting through the phone. "We planned this sleepover for you, and Jin hyung already prepared the food."
"Alright, alright," I laughed, shaking my head, feeling that familiar warmth fill me up. "I'll be there. What time should I come?"
"I'll pick you up. Just be ready before dinner, maybe?" Jimin's voice sounded excited. His energy was contagious, and I could feel myself starting to get excited too.
"Okay, Jimin. Thanks! See you soon, boys!"
I hung up, feeling a little embarrassed for overthinking the situation, especially with Taehyung. At least I didn't have to worry about him being there tonight. And besides, I knew I could always rely on the boys to make me feel better.
My shift ended soon after, and I stopped by the mart to grab some snacks for later. Walking through the aisles, I recalled the time I was there buying Banana Kick and ramen, and that time I saw two idols wearing masks. I still wondered who they were. The memory was still so fresh, and I found myself grinning at the thought.
I picked out what I needed, went home, ate a little, showered, and changed into an oversized sweatshirt and shorts. My usual cozy outfit when I didn't have to go anywhere important. As I fixed my hair, the doorbell rang, and I couldn't help the small thrill that ran through me. I rushed to open it, expecting Jimin.
"Ready?" Jimin greeted me with a wide grin, and I couldn't help but smile back. He'd been putting a smile on my face ever since Taehyung... well, since everything had happened. His presence always seemed to bring a sense of calm to my nerves.
"Yes, let me just grab my bag. Have a seat," I gestured toward the couch. I quickly grabbed my bag, took one last look in the mirror, and returned to the living room, mentally preparing myself for a night of fun.
"Okay, let's go."
At the dorm, the night was in full swing. We'd been playing a drinking game of Truth or Dare for a couple of hours, the alcohol loosening everyone up and making the atmosphere even more lively than usual. The laughter was constant, and I found myself laughing along even more than I had expected.
"Truth or Dare?" Jin asked, spinning the bottle that landed on Jungkook.
"Hyung, you know choosing truth is boring. I choose dare," Jungkook smirked, downing another glass of soju, his usual confidence in full force.
"Alright, then. Hmm... Do you like Jimin?" Jin asked, and I nearly choked on my potato chips, eyes wide in surprise.
"Hyung!! I said dare!" Jungkook complained, but the room burst into laughter at his expense. The playful atmosphere was so familiar, and it felt nice to get swept up in it again.
"Ya! Why would you ask if he likes Jimin? Hyung, you're drunk!" Hoseok teased, laughing and shaking his head at Jin's antics.
"Okay, okay. Let me think of something else," Jin laughed, wiping his eyes. "Ah! Tell me one good dad joke."
Jungkook thought for a moment before grinning. "What food cheers for a lot of guys? It's hu-raaaahhhhmen!" He yelled, and the room erupted in laughter. Even I couldn't help but chuckle at how silly it was.
"Eyyy, hyung! You know that joke already! You even told me that when we were at the mart!" Jimin said, his voice full of mock indignation, and I couldn't help but smile at the memory.
Wait.
I suddenly gasped, an idea dawning on me. "That was you and Jin at the mart, wasn't it?!"
"You saw us?!" Jin's eyes widened in realization, and a laugh bubbled from me as the pieces fell into place. "Oh, you're the girl eating ramen! What a coincidence!"
"Geokjeonghaji ma love," Jungkook sang, quoting DNA. I felt my cheeks flush, especially with all the boys watching us. I couldn't help but smile at the memory of seeing them.
As the teasing continued, I excused myself to the bathroom, wanting a moment to cool off from the embarrassment.
I splashed my face with cold water, drying it off quickly. When I stepped out of the bathroom, I immediately noticed the silence in the living room. Had everyone fallen asleep already? I slowly made my way back, trying to figure out what was going on.
"Why are you all so—" I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw two familiar figures standing with their backs to me. The room was unnervingly still, and I froze, suddenly very aware of the tension in the air.
Oh. My. Gosh. No. Please.
Taehyung turned slowly, and my heart seemed to stop for a moment. His gaze locked onto mine, and I felt every muscle in my body tense up, my breath catching in my throat. He gave a small, almost hesitant smile before speaking.
"Uh, Y/N," Taehyung began, his voice softer than usual.
"This is my girlfriend, Reese."
