"I missed you, Y/N."
Wait. What? What am I supposed to say to that? I turned around to face him, and in that moment, I saw the Taehyung I once knew months ago. A part of me missed this Taehyung, but I knew I couldn't be close to him like before—not with Reese and Jimin in the picture. Jimin is precious to me, and I can't afford to lose him.
"Good night, Taehyung. Take care on your way home." I gave him a quick hug, not looking back as I entered the house. The guilt hit me like a ton of bricks—did I just cheat on Jimin emotionally by missing Taehyung? No. Jimin isn't the type to be petty, and he knows how much I care about him. I'd never go back to someone who hurt me.
Speaking of Jimin, where is he? I checked my phone and saw several messages from him and three missed calls. I quickly dialed his number.
"Jimin."
"I'm sorry, love. Something happened at home, and I had to rush. I caught the earliest train to Busan, and I left my phone at the dorm. I'm really sorry."
His apologetic tone made me feel guilty for feeling upset that he hadn't picked me up from work.
"It's okay, Jimin. I was just worried something happened. I'm glad you're alright now."
"I'll make sure this doesn't happen again. I'm sorry for making you worry. By the way, why didn't you answer when I called earlier?"
Oh no. Should I tell him? Will he be okay with it?
"Uh, I just got home. I waited a bit because I thought you were stuck in traffic. I called Yoongi, and he said you left early, so I figured you weren't coming."
"I'm really sorry."
"Stop apologizing, Jimin. It's fine, really. Also, there's something I need to tell you."
"What is it?"
"Promise me you won't get mad?"
"Let me think about it first."
"Jimin!"
"Alright, alright. I promise. Now, what is it?"
I could hear him chuckling, and it helped me relax a little.
"When I was about to leave work, Taehyung showed up and said he'd take me home since you weren't around."
"Okay, and?"
"That's it. He took me home. Please don't think anything of it."
"Y/N, I know you wouldn't do anything to hurt me. But I'm glad Taehyung's starting to come around. He's been pretty cranky lately. You know he's a good guy, right?"
"I know. I honestly thought he was going to snap at me any second."
Jimin chuckled again, and I felt a sense of relief wash over me. I was lucky to have him.
"At least you two got along. I should thank him for taking care of my girl while I wasn't there and making sure you got home safe."
I felt my eyelids getting heavy. It had been a long day, so I said goodnight to Jimin and ended the call.
The atmosphere at the boys' dorm had become a little tense. Taehyung's behavior had been unpredictable lately. Just a minute ago, he was friendly—just like he was when he walked me home yesterday—but now, whenever Jimin and I would talk, he'd become irritable. Like today, when we were discussing our trip to Jimin's hometown to meet his relatives, Taehyung suddenly stood up, claiming he was done eating—when he hadn't even started—and stormed off, slamming the door to his room. The rest of us exchanged glances, confused by his sudden outburst.
