"You're supposed to wait for me to take off that blindfold, Y/N."
My heart nearly stops at the sound of his voice. I didn't expect to hear it now—definitely not like this. My hands fall limply to my sides as my mind races, struggling to process what's happening. I remain frozen in my seat, barely able to breathe. The only thing I can hear are footsteps approaching me, each step echoing in my chest like a drum.
Then, I feel it—his hands gently cup my face, his warmth surrounding me, and before I can fully comprehend what's happening, his lips press softly against my forehead. I can't see him, but I know he's smiling, that familiar, soft smile that always makes me feel like I'm the most important person in the world. My heart flutters uncontrollably at the thought.
He moves behind me, his hands working carefully to untie the blindfold. Slowly, so slowly, the fabric is pulled away, and I squint against the sudden brightness of the world around me. My eyes, still adjusting, flutter open only when the light isn't so blinding.
"Hi."
He's sitting in front of me now, across the table, and that smile of his—it's all I can focus on. There's something in the air, something different this time. It feels magical, yet there's a knot tightening in my stomach, nerves and excitement tangled together. My heart wants to hope, but I hold myself back.
"What's happening? Why are we here?" I ask, though the words feel too small for the situation.
"I've been planning this for days," he says, his voice gentle but serious. "I need to talk to you about something... something important."
Something important? My mind races, wondering what could be so important that it needs to be said here, now, in this quiet, intimate setting. Why not with the rest of the guys?
"Why can't you just say it in front of everyone?" I question, almost desperately wanting to hear the answer.
"Because they already know," he replies softly, his gaze not leaving mine. "It's just you that I need to talk to now... privately."
His words echo in my mind. The past, the moments we've shared, flash before me. I remember the first time I saw him, the quiet connection that sparked between us. Even before I realized it, he had a way of looking at me that made everything feel significant.
"Y/N," he begins, his voice thick with emotion. "From the first moment I saw you—when you walked into that cafe to buy the cake I was supposed to buy for Yoongi hyung—I knew there was something about you. Something I wouldn't be able to resist. And, for some reason, I knew we'd meet again. Which we did, at the mart near our dorm. I thought there was no chance, no way we'd run into each other again, but somehow, I kept hoping...
Then, the prank happened. Do you have any idea how happy I was when Yoongi hyung picked you? I was scrolling through the comments, trying to pick someone to do the prank with us, and there you were. You, the girl I couldn't get out of my head. Before Taehyung even volunteered to be your fake boyfriend, I was ready to do it, to step in. But then he did, and I thought... maybe it wasn't my time yet.
I'll admit, I felt something was off when he volunteered, knowing he wasn't even comfortable with it. But I let it go, thinking maybe I wasn't supposed to be the one. But I made myself a promise that I would look after you, that I'd protect you, so Taehyung wouldn't hurt you. And despite everything, despite all my efforts... he still hurt you. And I couldn't stand it. I couldn't stand seeing you cry over him.
But seeing you smile again, seeing you happy, it made me feel like I was doing something right. Like I was the one making you smile. And now that I finally have this chance... now that it's finally my time... I think everything that's happened, all of it, led me here. To you. To this moment."
Jimin rises from his seat, stepping toward me. He kneels down in front of me, taking my hand gently in his, and presses a soft kiss against it. His eyes are full of emotion, sparkling like stardust, and I can't hold back the tears that threaten to spill. I don't know what to say, what to feel. But in this moment, I know one thing: this is real.
"Y/N," he whispers, his voice trembling slightly.
"You're my serendipity. Can I be yours too?"
