A few days had passed since the incident with Reese, and I still hadn't told anyone about it. I figured it was best to let it go, to pretend it didn't matter, and let them live their lives. After all, why dwell on something I couldn't change? However, I made a silent promise to myself—never to set foot in their dorm again.
The boys hadn't pressured me to visit since then, though I could tell they missed the way things were. Instead of forcing me to come by, they took turns visiting me at home or at work. Jimin and Hoseok, in particular, had been checking in on me the most, their constant warmth and support becoming my lifeline. Jimin, with his infectious energy and kind words, had somehow become my partner in crime. He was always there, helping me laugh through the lingering ache left behind by Taehyung.
It was a sweltering Tuesday afternoon, and I was counting down the last hour of my shift when I saw a familiar pair walk through the restaurant door. Yoongi and Namjoon.
I blinked in surprise. Seeing either of them during their packed schedules was rare enough, but both? Together? Something was definitely up.
"RM, Yoongi, what brings you here?" I asked, walking over to them as I tugged off my apron and tried to tame the stray strands of hair that had escaped my ponytail.
"Is it a crime to visit a friend?" Namjoon teased, his warm grin lighting up his face. "We miss you. Let's hang out."
Before I could respond, Namjoon threw an arm around my shoulders and steered me toward the door. I stumbled slightly, my feet halting as realization struck.
"Wait—what? I can't just leave! My boss will lose it if I walk out mid-shift!"
Yoongi chuckled, shaking his head as if my reaction was exactly what he expected. "Relax, we already cleared it with Mr. Song. You're officially on an early break. Now let's go before he changes his mind."
Still baffled, I let myself be ushered out the door, a confused but amused smile tugging at my lips. What were they up to?
Yoongi was behind the wheel, looking effortlessly cool with one hand on the steering wheel and sunglasses perched on his nose. Namjoon sat in the passenger seat, scrolling through his phone as I settled into the backseat.
"Where are we going?" I asked, leaning forward slightly.
"Just trust us," Namjoon replied, turning to flash me one of his trademark dimpled smiles. The sight of it made my cheeks heat up, and I quickly averted my gaze, fiddling with the hem of my shirt.
"What are you thinking about?" Namjoon asked suddenly, his voice soft and curious.
"I, uh..." I stammered, caught off guard. "I was just thinking..."
"Stop thinking about Taehyung." Yoongi's voice cut through the air like a whip. "No one else is thinking about him, so why should you? He can stay with his garbage—I mean, girlfriend—for all I care."
"Hyung," Namjoon admonished gently, though there was a faint chuckle in his tone. "Don't be too harsh. He's still our brother."
"I'll ease up when he gets his act together," Yoongi shot back, his expression hardening as his grip tightened on the wheel. "He didn't even give Y/N the goodbye she deserved. No man should ever treat a woman like that, no matter the excuse."
Namjoon gave a slow clap, earning a chuckle from me.
"I wasn't thinking about Taehyung at all," I said, my voice calm but firm. "I was just wondering if I'd ever get to see Namjoon drive. I feel like he'd look extra cool behind the wheel."
Namjoon turned in his seat, his dimples deepening as he grinned. "I'll let you in on a secret—I'll probably never drive. I'm way too clumsy for that."
Yoongi let out a low laugh, and the tension in the car eased as the three of us fell into a comfortable rhythm.
After a while, the car came to a stop, and Yoongi turned to me with a smirk.
"Alright, Y/N. We're here."
I glanced out the window, realizing we were parked outside what looked like a cozy, secluded villa. Before I could ask any questions, Yoongi gestured toward the backseat.
"Grab those paper bags back there. They're for you."
"For me?" I asked, confused but intrigued.
"Yep. Go upstairs, third door on the left. That's your room. Change into something comfortable, and meet us in the living room when you're ready."
Namjoon gave me a reassuring smile before stepping out of the car. "You'll like this. Trust us."
I nodded slowly, curiosity bubbling inside me. Whatever they had planned, it felt like they were going out of their way to remind me that I wasn't alone—and for that, I couldn't be more grateful.
