After Pummelo Island, Emma and her friends were riding on Lapras in the ocean. Misty looked between Emma and Ash with suspicion, noticing they were sitting next to each other more closer than before. But the two didn't notice the redhead look, as they were busy playing with Togepi along with the Pikachu.
"What are you looking at, Misty?" Tracey asked in confusion. "Oh nothing," Misty said with a small smile, "Just noticing things changing more and more." Tracey didn't understand and he raised an eyebrow.
Lapras suddenly squealed, and the kids almost fell into the water as it turned violently around. Lapras then dashed off in a different direction as Emma held Togepi tightly in her arms so it won't fell into the water.
"What's the matter? What's wrong, Lapras?" Ash asked and Lapras squealed. "Where's Lapras taking us?" Emma asked. "I don't know," Ash said.
Lapras squealed again, and the kids and the Pikachu looked to where they were heading, and saw more Lapras on the horizon. "Hey guys, look. It's a whole school of Lapras," Ash said. "Pika," the male mouse said
Tracey pulled out his sketch book and started to sketch the school as it went by, "This is amazing! I've never seen so many Lapras together."
"I wonder if any of these Lapras know your Lapras, Ash," Misty said. "Maybe," Ash said. "Hey, you know, you're right!" Tracey said, "This could be the school Lapras was separated from before we found it."
"Well, looks like these might be friends of yours," Ash said with a smile as he looked at his Lapras. Emma smiled, "Or even family." Lapras called out to the school and approached it, but they just swim ahead after looking at it.
The kids and the Pikachu frowned in confusion. "Hey," Ash said. "They're ignoring it," Emma said, "Why?" Lapras followed the school, desperately calling out to it. A light colored Lapras responded, but another Lapras nudged it away.
The kids stood up on Lapras' shell. "What's wrong?" Misty asked. "I don't know," Ash said before calling out angrily, "Why would you go and turn your backs on a friend like that?"
One of the Lapras fired a Water Gun at them. "Why are they attacking us?" Tracey asked, "Lapras are supposed to be friendly and they hate to battle!"
Then, some mist came out of the mouth of the Lapras that attacked. "A Mist attack," Tracey said. They watched as the school slowly disappeared. "They're gone," Emma said softly. "I don't get it," Ash said. Lapras let out a sad cry as tears swell in its eyes.

The kids found an Island, and immediately went to the Pokémon Center to talk to Professor Oak. While explaining, Lapras was outside in the pool, been comfort by Poliwrath and Gyarados.
Professor Oak nodded, "Yes. That behavior is unusual. But I suspect those Lapras were reacting that way because they're afraid of humans."
"But what would make them so afraid of people?" Misty asked. "Did they feel uncomfortable to see us riding on the back of Lapras?" Emma asked as she frowned. Professor Oak shook his head, "It could be that some humans have been attacking them, or--"
"What kind of person would attack those Lapras?!" Ash asked angrily. "It's probably those Pokémon poaching pirates." They looked over to the new voice that spoke, and it was Officer Jenny who walked closer.
"Officer Jenny. Did you say, pirates?" Ash asked. "This Island is supposed to be a Pokémon no-capture zone, but we've had reports that pirates have been poaching wild Pokémon just off shore," Officer Jenny explained.
"Pirates like Captain Hook?" Ash asked. "Yes, but we call the lead pirate, Captain Crook," Officer Jenny said. "This is terrible," Misty said. Ash looked annoyed, "Yeah, and I bet I know who's behind it all."
