Chapter 48 - Fighting Flyer with Fire

Emma and her friends had finally reached to Violet City. They stared at the city in front of them with smiles. "Violet City," Brock said. "We made it!" Emma said. "Finally," Misty said. "Alright, Violet City Gym, here I come!" Ash said with a grin. "Pika-Pika!" the male Pikachu agreed and the kids walked forward.

They had found the Gym, which they are now facing. "This is it. Violet City Gym," Emma said. "It's pretty impressive," Brock said as he placed his hands on his hips. "It's even better than I thought it'd be," Ash said.

"I can't wait to see the inside," Misty said. "I can't wait to see the gym leader so we can have our battle, and I can win my first Johto League badge," Ash said. "Pika-Pika," the male Pikachu said. "Well, let's go inside and get started," Ash said. "Pika!" the male Pikachu agreed.

As they all took a step to the doors, a metal hand reached above them and grabbed Emma and her Togepi. "Hey!" she snapped as they were pulled up and they heard laughing. "Those guys again," Ash said in annoyance.

"Prepare for trouble! It's too late for you!"

"And make it double! We've caught your girl!"

"To protect the world from devastation!"

"To unite all peoples within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light, light, light!"

"Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!"

"Meowth, that's right!"

"Great," Brock said sarcastically. "Now give us back our friend!" Misty said. "Yeah right," Meowth said and laughed. "See ya," the trio said smugly and started to leave with their air balloon. Emma tried to reach to one of her Poké balls but couldn't, "Come on, come on!"

Ash pulled out a Poké ball, "I choose--" Misty stopped him as she pointed at the sky, "Look!" The Pikachu, Ash and Brock followed her gaze to see a young man swooping down in a hang-glider near the Meowth balloon with a Pidgeot by his side.

Emma and Team Rocket noticed them as well. "Who's he?" Emma muttered, blinking. "Togy," the Egg Pokémon said. "You know what to do, Pidgeot," the young man said. Pidgeot called out and flew past the young man with a fast speed and cut the wrist of the metal hand.

"Hey!" Team Rocket called together as Emma was falling down but Pidgeot caught her on its back. "All right!" Misty and the boys said with a smile. "How dare them?" Jessie growled and held a Poke ball, "Come here, Arbok!"

Arbok was released behind her. "Use your Poison Sting attack on that Pidgeot!" Arbok did as told but Pidgeot kept dodging the attacks. It turned and flew toward Team Rocket. "Pidgeot, fly by the balloon and tear it up!" the trainer called.

Pidgeot darted past the balloon, causing a rip to develop and send Team Rocket flying.

"Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

Pidgeot flew toward the rest of the kids and landed on the ground. Emma jumped off of Pidgeot, "Thanks, Pidgeot." Pidgeot called out as its trainer landed next to it. "Thanks for the help," Emma told him.

"You're welcome," the young man said. "One more loss for Team Rocket," Ash said. "Pika-chu," the female Pikachu said happily as she hopped on Emma's shoulder, and the male mouse hopped on Ash's shoulder.

"I've never seen a Pidgeot fly that fast!" Misty said with a smile. "Yeah, and it's a lot bigger than the Pidgeot I used to have," Ash said. The young man smiled, "Oh, did you use to have a Pidgeot?" Ash nodded, "Sure did. We even got into a battle with a Fearow. It was attacking a whole bunch of Pidgey and Pidgeotto, not far from Pallet Town. Someday, I'll go back there and see my old friend."
