Chapter 77 - Power Play!

Ash, Molly, Emma, Misty, and Brock were on the road to Ecruteak City. It was a peaceful day until they heard a voice not far away from them, "I'm Alex Davis from Cherry Grove City!"

"I wonder what's going on down there," Misty said. "Sounds like a Pokémon battle," Brock said. Ash smiled, "Let's check it out!" They ran to where the edge of the cliff to look down and to their surprise they saw a boy with his Alakazam, facing Gary Oak and a Pokémon they haven't seen before.

"It's Gary," Emma said with a small smile. Ash looked at the Pokémon Gary had by his side, "Who's that Pokémon?" He pulled out his Dexter and held it up.

Umbreon, the Moonlight Pokémon. When an Eevee has had sufficient training and is exposed to moonlight, it evolves into an Umbreon.

"It's super pretty," Molly said. "Gary must've had lots of tough battles to get his Eevee to evolve into an Umbreon," Ash said. "I can't wait to see it in action," Brock said.

"Umbreon, this is the first new opponent you've had in a while, so study its attacks carefully," Gary said.

"Bre!"

Gary smirked as he looked back at the boy, Alex, "Okay, let's get this over with." Alex glared, "I don't like your attitude! Alakazam, Zap Cannon!"

Alakazam held its spoons in front of its face, and they begin to crackle with electrical energy, creating a white electric orb between them. It then fired the orb at Umbreon.

"Dodge it, Umbreon!"

Umbreon did so by in a high-speed jumping up into the air.

"Alakazam, use your Psychic attack!"

Alakazam did as told, but Umbreon made no attempt to dodge, simply standing before the wave of psychic energy as it washed harmlessly over it. Alex frowned, "Hey! It didn't work!"

"Hey, it didn't do a thing," Molly said. "I guess Umbreon is a Dark type, so it is immune to psychic type attacks," Emma said.

"I thought you'd be smarter than to use a Psychic attack against an Umbreon," Gary said with a scoff. Alex glared, "Go! Use your Headbutt, Alakazam!"

Alakazam levitated and dashes forward.

"Dodge it, Umbreon." Umbreon did so. "Now, Tackle attack!" Umbreon landed behind Alakazam and quickly tackled it from behind. 

"Alakazam!"

Alakazam came to a stop and Alex soften, "Yeah. Alright, Alakazam, use your Dynamic Punch!" A ball of green light forms around Alakazam's fists and it went to punch Umbreon.

"Alright, Umbreon, now use footwork to dodge!"

Umbreon effortlessly dodged every attempt at a Dynamic Punch.

"That Umbreon sure has great footwork!" Brock muttered. "It's gonna be tough to beat," Misty said.

"I think we're just about done," Gary said. "Alakazam, use your Double Team!" Alex said.

Suddenly, Umbreon found itself surrounded by a circle of Alakazam clones. Gary smirked ligthly, "Not bad. Umbreon, don't be fooled by the fakes! Stay calm until you sense the real Alakazam, then attack!"

Umbreon braced itself, cocking his ears as Alakazams zoom around on all sides... then it leaped high and crashes down on top of one of the Alakazams.

The real one.

The others disappeared as the true Alakazam was knocked down. "Umbreon, use your Quick Attack!"

Umbreon dashed forward.
