Emma and her friends were still on the way to Violet City, when the Pikachu spotted something, which made the kids stop. "What's the matter, Pikachu?" Ash asked.
The kids looked ahead and saw a girl in a yellow jacket with black stripes, "We're gonna train hard, hit hard, and knock everyone out of the box! We're in the big leagues, and we're playing hard ball!"
"What's that girl doing?" Misty asked. "One! Two! Three strikes, their out!" the girl said as the kids spotted a Chikorita swinging its leaf around at her feet. "The site is retired and Chikorita wins the game! Chikorita, the Pokémon champion pulls out another amazing ninth inning victory and the fans go wild!"
"Hey, look at that," Emma said as they smiled. "A Chikorita," Misty said. "Cool," Brock said. "Let's check out what the Pokédex says," Ash said as he pulled out his Dexter.
Chikorita, the Leaf Pokémon. Chikorita releases a sweet, relaxing fragrance form the leaf on its head.
"That little headband makes Chikorita look really sporty, doesn't it?" Misty asked. "I betcha that girl's just starting out as a Pokémon trainer and she got her Chikorita in New Bark Town from Professor Elm," Brock. "Yeah," Emma agreed.
"Let's see what kind of attacks it uses," Ash said. A Ratatta came out of the bushes in front of Chikorita. "Taking the field for the visitors is Ratatta!" the girl said, "And on the mound for the home team is the vegetation sensation, the grass type that'll mow the competition down, the one, the only, Chikorita! It's game time!" Chikorita turned to its trainer and nodded, "Chiko!"
"Play ball! Tackle attack, now!" she said. Chikorita charged, but Ratatta moved out of the way in time. "And the first one's slow and in the dirt, but Chikorita's just warming up. The next one's coming straight down the plate! Go!"
Chikorita charged again, and this time it hit the Ratatta, knocking it out cold. "Perfect strike!" the girl said, "Chikorita's smoking Tackle attack knocked Ratatta right out of the box! This game is over!"
She pulled out a Poké ball and threw it in a baseball style, and hit Ratatta easily. The Poké ball moved a bit, but then stopped. The girl smiled, "Another Team Casey win!"
The girl, Casey and Chikorita high five in celebration. "Will the fans rise and salute Casey and Chikorita by singing their victory song?" She started to sing and Chikorita moved its leaf happily, "We all love Electabuzz, No other team's the same, The players charge the field and electrify the game. They pitch and catch and run so quick, Their baseball bats are thunder sticks, Their power hitters do the trick, Electabuzz, our favorite pick. We love their yellow colors and their black stripes are the best, Electabuzz, they're better than the rest."
Emma and her friends were watching on in bafflement as Casey was singing. She cheered, "Yay! Chikorita, return!" she said as she held a Poké ball, and Chikorita went back inside. "She, uh, must be a fan of the Team Electabuzz baseball team..." Emma trailed off. "Pika," the female mouse said.
Casey then noticed the older kids behind them, and startled them with a bit of an angry look. She then charged right for them. "Hey, no!" Ash said as Emma grabbed into his arm. Casey suddenly stopped and smiled, "I don't believe it! An honest to goodness Pikachu! Yay! Yay! Yay!"
She grabbed the Pikachu from Ash and Emma's shoulders and hugged them, "I just love those powerful pinstripes and those shocking yellow coats! Your Pikachu's a grand slam!" Ash frowned worriedly, "Hey, easy. Those two are high voltage Pikachu."
Casey gasped happily, "You think they would really shock me? What a blast! I always wondered what that's like. Come on, Pikachu! Turn on the juice! Give me a taste!" The Pikachu looked surprised and exchanged a confused look, but they were about to do as she asked.
