Emma and her friends were taking a break for the day by a lake, when the redhead girl decided they should try fishing to catch a Water Pokémon. While doing so, however, Ash was the only one who seemed to be bored by it.

"This is a boring way to catch Pokémon," he muttered. "Be quiet," Misty whispered. "I could've gone out and caught ten of them by now," Ash muttered. Misty glared at him, "Will you please shut your mouth?"

Ash ignored her and looked from Emma to Brock, "Don't you think we should give up?" Emma shrugged while Brock hummed, "Maybe we're using the wrong bait."

"Maybe," Emma muttered and looked at Misty, "How long are we gonna have to sit like this?"

"I know it seems boring, but if we're really quiet, maybe it'll only take another hour," Misty answered. Ash looked at her, "As long as you're quiet, I don't care if we're here another two hours."

Misty glared at him, "You're the one complaining about everything, why don't you be quiet?!" Suddenly, her fishing rod showed signs that she caught something. "Hey!" Emma said, "You got something, Misty!"

They all quickly stood up to their feet. "Reel it in, Misty!" Brock said. "It must be something humongous!" Misty said. "Hang on!" Ash said, "Don't let it get away!"

"I cant tell it's gonna be a big one!" Misty said. "You almost got it, just a little more!" Brock said. "Come on," Ash said, "You can do it! Steady."

Misty pulled with all her strength and finally pulled out whatever she caught, "I got it!" she said happily but then they all frowned. "What the--" Emma cut herself off as they stared at an old tea kettle.

"I just caught a tea kettle," the redhead girl muttered in disbelief. "It put up a pretty good fight, though," Ash muttered jokingly. "Could you throw it back and catch a coffeemaker?" Brock asked as Misty turned her head slowly to the boys, glaring.

"I came here for Pokémon, not appliances!" she shouted and turned to the water, "But now it's obvious, I'm gonna have to use something drastic to get one!"

"What are you gonna use, Misty?" Emma asked. Misty turned to her backpack and dug in, "My secret weapon. Introducing the Mini-Misty Lure!" She smiled as she stood up and held up her super Mini-Misty Fishing Lure.

"It looks like her," Brock whispered to Ash and Emma. Ash frowned, "Isn't that just gonna scare the Pokémon?" Misty ignored his question, "Watch closely, guys. You're about to see the dazzling technique of Misty, the water Pokémon master!"

She threw the lure into the river and they all waited. "Hey, since when are you a water Pokémon master?" Ash asked.

Misty rubbed the back of her head, "Well, technically, I'm not yet, but I don't like to get bogged down with technicalities." She sighed happily as she closed her eyes, "There's nothing more wonderful in the whole wide world than water Pokémon. When I was a little girl back in Cerulean City, I made a solemn promise to myself to dedicate my life to learning all I can about water Pokémon. Training them to the very best of my ability and always be their friend! I want to capture and train as many water Pokémon as I can, and that's why I'm hoping with all my might to catch one here today."

"I see," Emma said with a small smile. "Misty's kind of scaring me," Ash said to Emma and Brock. "She's almost as scary as that Mini-Misty," Brock said as Emma looked at them with a raised eyebrow.

Misty looked at Ash and Brock with a growl, "Don't mess with me or with Mini-Misty." Emma smiled in amusement, "They just kidding." Suddenly, they heard something in the water and looked to rock in the middle of the lake.

"To-tooooh-Dile!"

Emma and her friends stared in surprise at the Totodile. "Look at that, a Totodile!" Emma said. It jumped up and down happily, and they smiled. "It's totally adorable!" Misty said. "From the looks of the little dance it's doing, it's a pretty happy one, too," Brock said and Ash pulled out his Dexter.
