the first cut is always the deepest

Another day, another dreadful day, another day of early morning and pre-rounds. She's been living in a hotel the past weeks that her parents provided for her, but she felt bad that they were spending hundreds of dollars each night. She needed to get her own place.

So, when Meredith puts up flyers looking for roommates, she found her solution. She worked with Meredith every day. It would be super easy, Meredith knows her, no interview necessary and it probably super easy. Plus, she would stop feeling so guilty that her parents still had to put up with her, even after paying for med school (it was supposed to be her brother's). She thought it would be easy, but Meredith was putting up a fight.

"Why would you put up a poster from roommates if you don't want roommates?" Izzie asked.

"I do want roommates, we're together 100 hours a week, you wanna live together too?" Meredith asks the group.

"I see you bring bribes now, huh?" Cristina tells Meredith.

"My mom irons my scrubs. I have to get out of there." George complains to Meredith.

"It's not a bribe. I don't think it's a good idea." Meredith says.

"I can put down last, first, and deposit," George tells Meredith. She doesn't have that money, how is she supposed to put that down.

"It's totally a bribe," Cristina says.

"I can cook, and I'm an obsessive cleaner," Izzie tells Meredith.

"I'm living in a hotel right now and my parents are paying for it and I feel really bad after all they've done for me," Cassie says trying to convince Meredith.

"No. I just want three total strangers who I don't have to talk to or be nice to, and it's not a bribe. It's a mocha latte." Meredith rants approaching Bailey with the latte.

Bailey told everyone the assignments for the day. Cassie received trauma pager, she liked trauma. Having to work so quick, no mistakes. She liked it, plus she was with Meredith and she could convince Meredith to let her move in.

So, when they were paged down to the ER together the nurse asked them, "Are you the surgeons?" She nodded. "We've got a rape victim. Better get in there." Her heart sank. This is the part she didn't like. Innocent people getting hurt. It's never the bad people in this world, it's always good.

The description was then given to them, "25-year-old female found down at the park. Status--Post Trauma. She came in with a GCS of six. B.P.--80 over 60. The exam is significant for blunt head trauma. Unequal breath sounds, right pupil dilated, and she's ready for X-Ray. Ready to roll?" Meredith was silent.
