deny, deny, deny
Denial is pretty easy. Cassie's pretty aware of it. Maybe that's not really denial if you know about and you know it is true, but she's been denying herself lately. It's not that hard to realizes what that one thing is. No one else has realized it yet. She figures Cristina would have, but she's been busy being a patient, and other than her no one can real catch on. They are all in their own world. Anyway, she keeps denying. She's catching feeling for Alex Karev. Hardcore feelings. Cassie doesn't usually do this, but she figures that since he's sort of fawning over Izzie at the moment she should keep her mouth shut. Denial. She's also denying the fact that she's actually falling for this jackass because he's a jackass. Denial. At least, she thought he was because now they're kind of friends and she's fine with being friends with a jackass, but not with falling for one. Denial.
Alex and Cassie hang out at Joe's a lot because both seem to just go there and then go back to the hospital. They play darts a lot, mainly because she's the master at them, unfortunately, he's the master too. After she finishes her turn one round, she turns and sees him make a little smile towards Izzie. She wonders if he and Izzie have struck something up. Cassie figures that her roommate and her best friend at Seattle Grace would've told her by now. She doesn't think so by the way Izzie smiles back.
"So, you and Izzie?" Cassie asks Alex as she takes a sip from her beer bottle.
He throws a dart hitting the bullseye perfectly. "Me and Izzie what?" She figures this means they must not be in a relationship. She doesn't understand her relief behind this. She ignores it, denies it.
"Nothing." She answers taking a final sip of her beer before her turn as he pulls the darts off the board.
Alex hands her the darts listing his score, "Bullseye, one 20, one outer bullseye. Beat that, peds patient."
Cassie ignores the dig at her height and grabs the darts from him, hopping off the chair. "Gladly." She notices his smirk but acts like she doesn't. Denial.

As they make their rounds and Dr. Bailey lists off her orders for the day, Cassie listens in one ear to her and one to Alex challenging her to a darts rematch. "I want everyone focused today. With Cristina out, we're short an intern, and I have a feeling it's gonna be one of those days. And, Karev, see the chief by the end of the day."
Cassie stands up on her tippy toes to reach Alex's ear to whisper, "Why?" He shrugs and they continue to follow Bailey down the stairs. She hears George make a comment about how Alex has to meet the chief because Alex gave him syphilis. Cassie can't help it when she snorts.
The group finds their way into the next patient's room who is in the middle of telling some weird story. Cassie isn't exactly sure and isn't exactly listening anyway. Bailey put an end to it and Izzie went over with her curiosity of what the story was. Bailey gave Izzie a look to present, Cassie's mind still drifted off but caught every other detail. Kalpana, Burke's patient, multiple syncopal episodes, ventricular arrhythmia, had rheumatic heart disease. That's about all she hears into Cristina yells from the door behind her about the primary causes of ventricular arrhythmias. She looked like some insane psych patient that escaped. Bailey then insisted Cristina be in her room in 15 seconds (the amount time until they were rounding on her).
