break on through
"Fair hours! Fair wages!"
Cassie could hear the nurses outside protest. She knew she had to come in earlier to not endure the wrath of the nurses. Though she completely agreed with what they were standing for, she had work to do. Luckily, she got in before she had paper and food thrown at her like Cristina and Izzie. "What are we doing?" Cassie asked as she joined Alex, Izzie, Meredith, and Cristina at the (temp) Nurses' Station.
Alex kept his head down as he wrote something down, "Trying to figure out who they're gonna pick for Bailey's replacement." He explained.
"Yang! Stevens! Grey! O'Malley! Scott! Karev!" A perky woman shouted from behind them on the stairs. "Here you are. I was looking for you guys in the locker room, but you weren't there." She walked towards them in a high pitch tone. "And then I thought," the woman began to ramble, "well, maybe my interns are looking for me too. And then I come out here, and here you are." She stood in front of them before placing her hands in her white coat's pockets, "Yeah, you guys look like a great group, which is awesome. Because my horoscope said it was gonna be a very challenging day, and I was a little worried, but, no. You guys...yeah. You look like a good group. Which is great, 'cause we're gonna have so much fun. Hi!" She said towards Cristina wrapping her arms around her. Alex and Cassie began laughing at the sight with each other knowing the inevitable Cristina reaction "Hi. First of all, hi."
"Ow, ow, ow," Cristina complained.
The woman jumped away in fear, "Oh. Sorry. Am I hurting you?"
"Uh, no, you're--you're touching me," Cristina told her.
The woman then introduced herself, "I'm Sydney Heron, fourth year, and, uh, my philosophy, uh, just so you know, is, um, heal with love." Cassie and Alex both raised their eyebrows at the heal with love philosophy. "So Alex, Cassie, Izzie, Meredith, Cristina--" Sydney pointed at each of them before stopping, "Our little group is missing..." She tried to think.
"O'Malley," Cristina told her, "he's cowering behind the strike line like a little girl."
Sydney made a face, "Standing up for what he believes in. That's my kind of 'little girl,' right?" They all formed fake smiles because this woman was so wrapped up in her horoscope and philosophy to notice, "So...the ER need somebody down there for a consult. So does anybody?"
"We get to pick?" Meredith questioned her due to the difference between her and Bailey.
Cristina jumped at the chance to get away from this very perky woman, "I'm on it!" She ran away from this woman.
