begin the begin

New starts, beginnings. Cassie is thankful for them. More than anything. Chances to start over. Repeat. All over again. Being a surgeon that opportunity doesn't come around much, but in her life, she's thankful when they come around. So, "new year, new you" is Cassie's motto. She wants that and everything that comes with it. The only problem seems to be the much taller dark-haired boy that stands next to her. Cassie thought that him cheating on Izzie would just make her repulsed by him, but now that he's free it just makes her fall in deeper. She can't even listen to the Chief list off the rules they will be enforcing this year. She tunes in enough to her the 80 hours or something, but she just focusing on the crease that appears of Alex's forehead.

She hates herself for it.

"Denny Duquette," Bailey announced as they enter the patient's room.

"Hey, Dr. Bailey," He greeted in return with a harsh voice.

"I hope that seeing you here means they found you a heart," Dr. Bailey told him.

He then told her, "No offense, doctor, but I'm not a big fan of hospitals. It'd take something pretty special to get me in here."

Bailey looked towards Izzie as she asked, "And what do we know about Mr. Duquette?"

"Capricorn, single, loves to travel and cook," The man joked.

Izzie looked flustered as Bailey told Denny to be quiet and cued Izzie to speak, "Denny Duquette, 36, admitted today for a heart transplant necessitated by viral cardiomyopathy." Bailey then asked her to define what she had said. "That his heart is unable to fill and pump blood normally." Bailey complimented Izzie before introducing Denny to Izzie as they exit. George made several comments on how Bailey should be slowing down now that she's pregnant before she told him off.

Bailey looked towards Cassie and Alex now that George left. "You do glow," Cassie told Bailey.

"Like the moon," Alex finished.

"And you two can spend the day in the pit," Bailey ordered.

They both rolled their eyes before Cassie told him, "Guess you're stuck with me and the pit again today."

Alex formed a fake smile turn away from her and walking in front of her. Cassie's little legs trying to catch up. Alex grabbed a Maur Paskowitz's lab before walking towards his room, Cassie trailed behind and complained about it. "Here we are," Alex whispered as he knocked on the open door. "Mr. Paskowitz," he raised his volume as the two walked in the two-bedded room. "We've located the source of your abdominal pain." He raised the scans for Mr. Paskowitz to see. "There. It's called a bezoar."

"Bezoar, huh?" The man questioned, a hand gripped to the railing of his bed.

Cassie placed a stray piece of hair behind her ear and explained, "It's a clump of foreign matter that couldn't be expelled with a prokinetic agent."
