much too much

Cassie is getting back on the scene. Not worrying about other people, specifically one person. She's also ignoring the fact that she hears everyone around her having sex at night. Alex and Izzie, Meredith and whoever, at least there's George. Not that she wants to have sex with George (she doesn't need syphilis), it's just nice to have someone in the same boat as her. She's staying focused though, eye on the prize, becoming a surgeon. She back on neonatal since her last experience with the two Dr. Shepherds killing each other. This time it's just Addison Shepherd and her plus a mother who is pregnant who sextuplets.

The two joined the mother in her room as Dr. Shepherd introduced the patient to Cassie, "Dorie, this is Dr. Scott. She'll be working with us on this case."

Dorie waved saying, "Well, the more the merrier."

"Sure seems like it." Cassie joked. "How far along are you?"

Dorie answered, "30 weeks."

"And how long is a normal gestation period." Dr. Shepherd quizzed her.

Cassie clicked her pen as she opened Dorie's chart, "40 weeks, but with twins, 36 weeks is considered the full term. So with 6," Cassie tried to do the math in her head, "32 weeks is considered extremely successful."

Cassie wrote down some of her stats as she overheard Dorie's husband, Tom, on the phone talking about medicine or something. "I plan on going 34 weeks. No one's leaving this uterus until I say so." Dorie pointed towards her round belly.

"The power of positive thinking, huh?" Dr. Shepherd said placing the ultrasound wand on her stomach.

"Well, that, bed rest and all the medical care you can give me," Dorie responded.

Cassie scribbled a few notes down as Dorie's husband walked in the process told her, "Adam's got a fever, which means they all have a fever soon. I don't think my mom's gonna make it through lunch."

Dorie turned to Cassie explaining, "We have 4-year-old boys at home--Adam, Oliver, and Graham."

Cassie stood stunned, "Tr-triplets? You have triplets already?" Once the shock wore off Cassie joked, "Geez, you really go all out." She silently giggled.

"Dr. Scott." Dr. Shepherd warned.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I was just trying--" Cassie began to apologize.

"It's okay." Dorie waved off. "I'm used to it. I just really wanted a girl."

"Yeah, we just didn't bank on six girls." Her husband told them.

Dorie gave a look towards her husband, "But think of all the clothes and all that punk cuteness."

"Honey," Her husband said as he leaned down towards his wife, "that's your happy place, remember?" Giving her a kiss before he left.

Dr. Shepherd then walked over towards Cassie before Dr. Shepherd told her, "Try not to say everything. That pops into your brain." She handed her the chart before exiting the patient's room. After a minute or so, Cassie hooked up all six babies to the heart monitor to check the cardiac function for the day.
