raindrops keep falling on my head
Cassie doesn't drink too often. Maybe every once and a while or so. It's unhealthy truthfully, but it sure knows how to show you a good time. The hospital has a bar right across the street, she's been there often though since her late nights and had become friendly with the staff. She goes with George and Cristina and apparently word got around that George beat up Alex because everyone in the bar is cheering for him when he arrives. This is just about the greatest thing she's ever experienced. George unwilling to talk about (probably due to the girlfriend part or syphilis), Cristina did for him instead. They sat down on three barstools next to what looks like an already drunk Meredith. Both George and she got beers, considering she didn't like much else.
"Let's play a game of whose life sucks the most?" Meredith offers somberly.
"Let's not," Cristina answers tying her hair back.
"I'll win, I always win." Meredith insisted as she throws peanut shells down on the bar.
"Well, you don't wanna play with me," Cristina told Meredith. Cassie's and George's beers get the slide to them from the other side of the bar. Cassie quickly downs a sip, due to her thirst.
"Oh, I do. I'll even go first." Meredith continued her mindset on playing this game for some reason. "Derek's married." Before Cassie can say when of her shocked expression, George pretty much does what everyone is thinking at the moment. He spits his whole sip of beer out, beer coming out of his nose too.
"George, beer is dripping from her nostrils," Cassie announced like he didn't already know that. He tried to clean it up with his sleeves before running off to find some napkins.
"Told ya I'd win," Meredith tells Cristina and Cassie.
"By default," Cassie whispers to herself.
"No, you don't win," Cristina tells Meredith picking up her water to take a sip of it.
"Did you hear me? I said Derek is married." Meredith repeats to Cristina. Apparently, Meredith wants to have the worst life ever because she really seems to love this game. "As in pigheaded, adulterous, liar married. Nothing you could say could top that."
Cristina placed her glass down before answering, "I'm pregnant. I win."
"What the hell? Oh, my God! How?" Cassie yelled shocked. She wasn't sure if she heard Cristina right because how could Cristina be pregnant.
Cristina replied to her over-the-top reaction with, "You're a doctor, you should know where babies come from." Before anyone can respond there's a giant crash on the floor and a thud. The three turn around and spot Joe, the owner of the bar, flat on his back. "Okay, maybe Joe wins."

Cassie and George leaned against the Nurse's Station after admitting Joe. The two just leaned against the countertop of it, not speaking, just thinking. Izzie then walked over to join as did Meredith and Cristina. "Why you back here tonight? Don't you have a date with McDreamy?" Izzie asks Meredith. Cassie spots the sting look on Meredith's face.
"More like McMarried." George answers for her.
Cassie leans over to whisper into George's ear, "Good one." Sure, Meredith was going through a very painful way to break-up with someone, but McMarried is pure genius.
"McWhat?" Izzie questions just shocked as the rest of them. Meredith answers that she came to check on Joe, like the rest of them. The group then started to debate what happened and whether he would need in operation.
Just then McMarried strolled along, "Operation--yes. Okay--hard to tell." He wrote something down in the chart as the five interns just stared at him. "The Basilar Artery is blown up like a balloon, subarachnoid bleeding and an aneurysm the size of a golf ball." Cristina and George then talked about the impossibility to clip something like that huge. Cristina then says magic fingers and McMarried or whatever then has an idea spark in his mind, "Or a standstill operation." Cristina bite her tongue for Meredith though everyone knew she was dying right now for that operation. "I'd like to try, but first I need some additional patient history, overnight labs and a cerebral angio." He closes the chart handing it over to Meredith who simply answered that she was drunk. Cassie darts for the chart, a sip of beer isn't drunk and she's not passing up on a standstill operation. "Meredith..." She begins to walk away, but he still tries to go after her, it becomes an issue after all four of them try to block him. Cassie hears Cristina say McBastard and then she tries to take the chart from Cassie, but she's not giving up that easily. It's a standstill.
__
Cassie finds it pretty odd when she spots Alex and Joe talking. After noting a few things on Joe's chart she closes it and walks over to his "room" which was really just curtains separating him from other patients. "I'll pay my tab of it. How much is it?" She hears Alex ask.
"Close to a grand." Joe answers.
Alex looks through his wallet, "Well, here's sixty." He throws down on Joe's bed. He spots Cassie and then stays silent after Joe says thanks.
Cassie walks to the end of Joe's bed and tells him, "We're going to move you to room soon."
"Thanks, Cass," Joe says. She walks away, but still hears Alex and Joe talk behind her about...her. She doesn't listen in, which is odd for her. She cares about what people think of her, but she thinks she shouldn't for some reason.
__
Cassie gets into the standstill. It's amazing seeing it up close and all. Once, she's finished she hears that George found a way to pay for Joe's surgery by donating his body to science the 45 minutes Joe was dead. When she's doing Joe's post-op notes and such, she sees Alex actually being nice to someone, and probably the only one, Joe. It's all good until George walks by and Alex yells, "O'Malley." She would love to see a fight again, but she's too worried that poor little George wouldn't survive due to not catching Alex off guard this time. She thinks she sees the most shocking thing when she spots Alex actually hug someone, someone who punched him the day prior. It then occurs to her, Alex is actually a human being. Something in her heart then changes, she's not sure what it is, but it feels better. A lot better.
