who's zoomin' who?

Cassie's back to maintain her night shifts, luckily Cristina has been there more often, but she seems to be a little distracted by who knows what. Alex still is there, but she's to get that he's a jackass and is taking a different, much better method. Sure, he's still Alex, but he's at least not near her every two seconds. Everybody seems to be having problems or occupied in their own world. Cristina with whatever, Meredith with Derek, George with that Nurse Olivia, and even Chief Webber seems to have some issue asking her to read something of his patient's chart. Izzie seems to be...unoccupied, but she's very focused on George in the bathroom this morning doing some...things to himself. Alex is also too occupied with himself. Cassie's occupied with patients, they're certainly more important. She's with Cristina and Izzie on a patient, a very interesting patient, and his family

"Mr. Franklin, how long has your abdomen been like this?" Cristina asked as her hands examined the obvious mass of his abdomen.

"It's been getting bigger for a while." Mr. Franklin answered in a nonchalant way.

His wife explained more, "I told him there was something wrong. No one gets fat like this so fast." Mrs. Franklin was obviously concerned, unlike her daughter.

"Everybody told him." She chimed in. Their daughter leaned against the door obviously not caring.

"He has dullness to percussion and spider angiomas," Izzie said as she finished examining Mr. Franklin.

"What's all that mean?" The daughter asked.

Cassie answered saying, "It means we have to admit your father and run some tests." The daughter disappointed at the fact that he had to admit, was more concerned about the cost of his trip to the hospital than his actual health. Mrs. Franklin stopped her daughter before she got far ahead with the comments about her father.

Cristina, Izzie, and Cassie then disbanded to run different tests on Mr. Franklin. Once they had all been completed they met back up in Mr. Franklin's room after consulting with one another. "Mr. Franklin, you have a condition known as Ascites," Cassie told the family.

"Oh, my God. I knew it was terrible." Mrs. Franklin worried at her husband's bedside.

Cassie cleared it up for the family, "It just means there's an abnormal build-up of fluid in the abdomen." She looked over at the daughter who was reading a magazine not caring a single bit in the world. Cassie continued, "The swelling is pressing against your lungs, which is why you're having trouble breathing." She then begins to write down his most recent stats.

"In your case, it looks like a symptom of liver disease," Cristina explained.

"And it all comes together." The daughter scoffed. Her mother then told her to knock it off, but obviously, there's something more to the situation, Cristina asked if there's something they should know. Mr. Franklin answers that he might drink a bit. "That's the understatement of the year." The daughter scoffed again, turning a page in her magazine. Mr. Franklin warned his daughter about her candidness. "Hey, I'm only here for mom, to make sure you don't pull any of your usual crap." There was definitely something up with this family.
