They talk more. Cassie and Alex. At first, but sort of just playing little jokes on everyone else or make small talk in the locker room. One day she notices Izzie giggling to something Alex said, she isn't the only one who realizes the oddness of their interaction. "What is she doing?" Cassie hears Cristina ask.

George replies, "She's hanging out with Alex."

Cassie shut her locker staring at the two. "She's flirting with Alex." She grossed up by the mind behind one of her closest friends over the last few months to be giggling with Alex Karev.

"Why?" Cristina asks what they're all thinking. George gives some answer about them being friends and confusion washes over all of them to why and when this friendship occurred. 

They make their way to rounds where Izzie explains her reasoning about how he's actually a sweet person once you get to know him. "He's Alex."

"Punk-ass," Cristina stated.

"Jackass." Cassie corrected. Alex then yelled from in front of them about tapes of Mere's mom performing surgeries. Izzie then invites him to come over and watch them and Cassie just lets out this huge groan and reminds herself to convince Bailey to let her be on-call tonight. It's not going to be that hard, but it's Bailey, and Bailey is well...Bailey. The finish their rounds on a guy who got a tumor from dry cleaning and a girl with uncontrollable blushing.

"Hey, there's a new surgical case coming up from the pit, likely diverticulitis. Let's go." Bailey informs them. They all follow Bailey, except Meredith who sorts of lags behind them all of them. She wasn't exactly...friendly, but the worse was yet to come when Cristina had struggle reading the patient's chart. "Patient's name?" Bailey asked. Cristina let out a few uhs and ums and which Bailey responded, "Come on, Yang, the patient's name?"

Before Yang could respond the women looked straight at Meredith and yelled, "What the hell are you doing here? Haven't I told you? How many times have I told you not to bother me when I'm at work?"

Cristina finally answered, "Ellis Grey."

"Meredith's mother," George said. Ellis kept screaming as she and Alex gave a look at each other while in this very awkward situation. Izzie whispered something in her ear about her mom, but she couldn't quite pick it up over Ellis's screaming.

After admitting Ellis, they all ran off to the locker room where Meredith had gone, but Dr. Bailey was blocking their entry. While she and Alex weren't screaming like the rest of them, Cassie was seriously concerned for Meredith. Bailey eventually gets them all to shut up and then begins listing off orders, "Dr. Karev, stick with the ETS case. And, Alex, her blushing impulse--not a toy for you to play with or a button for you to push, understood?"

Cristina then tried to comfort Meredith, but fell completely short, "My great-grandmother, she died with Alzheimer's."

"Oh my God, why would you say that to her?" Cassie questions what Cristina was actually trying to do.
