if tomorrow never comes

Cassie's been working insane hours. She's used to it now, but it took a bit to adjust, especially transferring to Seattle time from New York time. She wakes up way early to make rounds before pre-rounds. She needs to be on the top of her game to get into the OR, she hasn't been able to since Mr. Frost, the drug addict. So, getting on Bailey's good side is her goal. It's always the goal. She would assume that everyone would be doing this, maybe not going in super early, but at least not super late. Cristina and Meredith had other plans. Izzie and George showed up on time, but Alex seems to be doing the same thing as her. She guessed he probably had nowhere else to go because...he's Alex.

She scurried on her little feet to maintain the same pace as Bailey. Bailey then instructed them, "When we walk in this door, you will maintain decorum. You will not laugh, vomit, or drop your jaw. Are we understood?"

"Why would we laugh?" Izzie asked the group.

"Oh, just you wait." She and Alex respond at the same time. They both made a face at each other before walking into room 2111.

"Good morning, Ms. Connors." Bailey greeted. Ms. Connors then greeted back.

"What is it?" George whispered in her ear.

It was a giant tumor hanging off this women's body. The biggest--by far--that she had ever seen. "Tumor." She told him. It's this huge tumor just hanging off of her and she had just now shown up at a hospital.

"Good morning, Annie." Alex greeted. "This is Dr. Bailey, and these are my fellow interns." She rolled her eyes. Alex, making it all about, guess who? Alex.

"Hi, Annie." She waved towards her who then waved back.

"Dr. Karev, Dr. Scott," Bailey addressed them, "we refer to patients as 'Mister'--"

"I told them to call me 'Annie." Annie interrupted. "Ms. Connors' makes me feel old and fat, which I am, but why feel that way?"

She was about to tell her that she wasn't when Dr. Burke walked into the room. "Good morning." He said.

"Oh, Annie, this is Dr. Burke--awesome surgeon," Alex told her. She rolled her eyes again. She couldn't count how many times she rolled her eyes at him. It was impossible to count. Bailey, picking up on his knowledge and comfort with the patient, asked him to present. Of course, Cassie could, but it's the Alex Show now, so what can you do? "Oh, Annie Connors is a 43-year-old woman who presented last night with progressive shortness of breath for the past three months. Found to have a very large tumor of unknown origin pressed against her diaphragm. Stable vital signs. Schedule for C.T. this morning, sir."
