They couldn't really be mad at your child. He / she was very compassionate, never wanted to hurt anyone so it was the most logical thing for him / her to do when he / she saw that puppy on the streets. They were impressed that your son / daughter was able to sneak a puppy in. It's no easy to hide a puppy and it's definitely not easy to walk passed all the security in and around the lair. Now, how are the boys supposed to tell their child that they might not be able to keep the dog? Maybe its owner was looking for it and worried sick already? Maybe that dog was sick and it was contagious? Maybe that puppy was hurt and no one saw it? As much as it would break your babies heart, they needed to do the right thing: bring the dog to the police or a vet. If it was indeed lost, then they'd explain your child that they did something good. That the owner was happy to have their baby back. If the dog wasn't chipped or missing, the boys might actually think about adopting it. Only if your child promises to take care of the dog and be responsible about it.
