Leonardo isn't stupid. He knew something was wrong. Despite training a lot, being on patrol and not seeing you as much as he wanted in the past days ... he just knew. You weren't your normal self, you acted weird. Yes, you still kissed him and talked and cuddled and all the other stuff. It was when he turned away that he saw some sort of ... worry? ... in your eyes. He can read you like an open book. He knows you too well. And not knowing what made you sad drove him almost insane. Were you sick? Did something happen at work? Something with your friends? Family? His family? He literally love you more than his own life and wanted to protect you at all costs. But then again, he won't snoop around. He's not nosey and he knows it's none of his business as long as you don't tell him.
You needed to tell him. He's about to be a father. Probably a good one, yes, but still. You needed to prepare him for it. You had him sit down on the couch, took a few breaths and then just handed him the pregnancy test. For a while he was just sitting there, not moving at all, barely breathing. If it wasn't for his open eyes you would have thought he died.
"You ... you're pregnant?", he asked, his voice breaking.
You just nodded. What else were you supposed to do? Laugh about it? Cry? Scream?
"I'm gonna be a dad?", he mumbled.
Was he talking to himself or to you ... you didn't know. He finally looked at you and hugged you so tight both of you fell backwards. Thank God for the soft couch.
"I'm sorry. Did I hurt you?", he wanted to know.
"Not at all", you smiled, happy that his reaction was like this.
The thought of him being too shocked or even angry at your pregnancy would have scared you.
"Did I hurt you?", he now asked your belly.
You laughed out loud. How was a giant, mutated turtle so cute all the goddamn time?
"It can't even hear you yet Leo"
"Don't care. I'll protect both of you with my body if I have to", he gave back and gently touched you belly.
