Well to be honest Leo never wanted to have kids either. Hey were cute and adorable, yes. But also so goddamn noisy, annoying and demanding. He had other things to do. Protecting the city, training, living his best life with you. Then, something changed. He saw you with your godson and was over the moon. You were so good with babies, seemed to have fun and looked perfect. After that, his mind was running wild. Can he have kids? He's a turtle, you know. Would you be okay with it? Would you be mad? How should he ask? Should he ask? Or should he wait until you mention something?
Usually Leo is well articulated and knows how to say things (mainly by practicing it and going through it step by step in his head). But when he asked you he was a nervous mess. Stuttering, sweating and quite frankly, he rather would have been somewhere else.
You were not sure what to do. You loved kids, yes, but having one of your own? Does he know how much stress that is? How carful you have to be? How anxious you'd be whenever he goes out of patrol, thinking that you have to raise the kid on your own? Also, it's expensive as hell. Where would you take all that money from? You can't just decided from one day to the other that "yep, now I want a child".
But Leo was so excited about it and you didn't want to break his heart. He could tell however that something was up when you didn't give him the reaction he expected. "It's not that I don't want kids Leo, just not now okay?", you said. You hoped you didn't hurt him too much.
At first he wasn't sure what to do. It wasn't a clear no from you, so that was good, but still. He doubted himself quite a lot. Of course you don't want kids now ... who knows if you'd still be together for a while? Maybe you got sick and tired of him and decided to end it? What if you were done with him being on patrol and fighting the bad guys? What if you don't want to deal with him being injured AND caring for a child?
"Leo?", you asked when he didn't give an answer.
"It's okay ... I'm okay. You're right it might be a little too soon. Just know that whenever you are ready, I am too.
You nodded and pulled him into a hug. At least you knew he was your ride or die, no matter what!
