((A/N) I will write this as "he" so you can pick your favorite turtle! Also, this is a AU were they can have kids with humans. Enjoy 💕)
He knew something was up just form the look on your face. He's not stupid. And he knew you way to well.
"Are, are you okay?", he asked.
"I ... listen ... I appreciate the fact that you want a baby but ...", you started but were cut off by your boyfriend.
"You donate want to have a baby with a giant turtle, I got it", he said.
"No, no that's not it!"
He sat down and looked at you with his big eyes that you loved so much. Of course you love this man (or better turtle) a lot, probably more than your own life but ... a baby? Does he know how much work that is? How often that baby will scream, wake up, need to be fed, changed and so on? Is he really ready to do this for the next years?
"It's a lot of work babe", you said and thought this would explain it.
"We can do that. We've been through a lot already", he answered.
"I know. But a child is different. Just one mistake could be fatal."
"You'd be a great mom. And I will try my best as well!"
"Like you always do", you smiled, "but still. I am simply not ready for this. Walking around with a baby in my belly for ... 9 months? And who even knows if we can have a child?"
"Cause I'm a turtle."
"Can you stop with the "cause I'm a turtle" bullshit? Yes, you are a turtle but that's not the point. Maybe I can't have kids. Or maybe ... humans and mutants can't have kids at all?", you wondered.
He nodded and you sat next to him. You took his big hand into yours, gently rubbing your thumb over his skin.
"I love you, and you know that. I'd just like to wait a little longer. Live our lives, go on holidays and whatnot. After that, we can have kids. I'm totally down with that!", you explained.
"Okay", he sighed.
"Okay. Look, it's good we've talked about this", you said.
"It is. And I'm happy that you still want kids, just not now. Maybe I've been a bit too quick in planning everything", he smiled.
"Just a little", you smiled as well.
"But ... I've already got the names covered", he gave back.
"OH GOOD GOD", you yelled and then laughed.
You knew he would be a great father and when you were both ready, you'd both enjoy kids very much.
