The house was set to host a high number of businessman and high-end people invited for Chandra Moretti's birthday party along with New Year celebration.

Ella stood at a corner of the hall leaning on the wall to support her sprained leg.

A soft music played giving a very soothing feel to the evening.

One by one guest started filling up the big hall.

She took a glass of red wine from the passing tray and resumed her position. Last morning's incident had given her quite a pain all over her body yet she couldn't just stay in her room and not attend the party.

That would be rude for a guest.

Meanwhile, her mind went back to the time they came back from the clinic a day before. She was lucky to not have much injuries or Ella would have been spending at least two nights there.

Diego was silent right from the moment he barged out of the room till they reached back home. No explanation to why he suddenly behaved such way and no inquiring on anything.

Ella's sprained leg did not help her in anyway to quicken her steps as she dragged herself and stop before the flight of steps heading to the entrance.

She shook her head, "You know what, army men. You two wait for me at the entrance, I'll be there in about ten minutes" she heaved a sigh of helplessness. That was specifically told to Lazaro and Thomas knowing Diego was in no mood to even talk to any of them.

Crazy man.

"You sure, young lady? I can give you a hand" Thomas offered to help while Lazaro agreed with a nod.

"No, I'll be fine. Now off you both go" Ella shooed them and took one step at time.

Realising Diego behind her, she stopped after ascending two steps and waited for him to say whatever he wanted to say because that's how he seemed to be with his hands on his hips.

"What are you waiting for?"

Diego replied with a stare and thin pressed lips.

"This staircase is huge, you don't have to wait for me. Go the other w—... ahh

What are you doing, Diego?!"

Diego had swung her in his arms as if she was nothing more than a ragdoll and in no time they reached the entrance. He carefully dropped her on her feet, "Just be grateful I did not push you down the stairs after carrying you up."

He was mad.

Furious at himself for doubting his mother at the same time, as if by nature the thought of irking her popped in his head.

Probably an after effect of getting mad.

"Well, you better be grateful as well because my hands are perfectly fine to push you down the stairs too" she huffed. Ella has no idea what's wrong with Diego that he was being so annoying. Not that it's something new yet it irritated her.

"Is he alright?"

Diego left the three at the entrance and disappeared into the house while the three gathered at the corner near the entrance.

Checking for no eavesdropper, Ella spoke very softly. "Listen, I heard your Gasparo is going to be here for tomorrow's party" she pointed to Lazaro who had claim to know Gasparo and did not wish to disclose his relationship with Mr. G.

"I too think he will be here" Lazaro confirmed.

"Where were you, Ella? And did you collect the dress?" Chandra's voice echoed around the hall as soon as she spotted Ella, Thomas and Lazaro stood at the corner of the entrance whispering to each other.
