Chapter 4

New Secretary

Annoyed, the ruthless boss of Samonte’s Empire dropped piles of files on his working table. Sean is breathing so raggedly. He’s so tired, stressed and annoyed because of consistent, simultaneous and restless work, idagdag pa na sa kabila ng pagkakaroon ng aircon sa loob ng opisina niya ay hindi pa rin ma-aalis ang matinding init ng panahon, which add to his annoyance.

It's been three days when his secretary had an accident. Because of what happened, nahihirapan siya kumilos sa trabaho. All the tasks of his secretary are done by him. Such as fixing his own schedule, answering phone calls, managing appointments, checking documents and other things to be done by his secretary.

He really needs to hire a new secretary, as soon a possible. Ang trabaho, kompanya at negosyo ng pamilya nila ang nakasalalay kapag nag-aksaya pa siya ng panahon. In Maria’s current situation, it will be a long time before she can recover. He doesn’t want to replace Maria who he already considers close to him but does he have a choice? Wala!

Well yeah, the girl was really close to him because she was his classmate from Elementary to College. Maria is just a commoner and since they have known each other for a long time, he offered her a job as a secretary. Pala-sigaw man siya rito, pero parang kapatid narin ang turing nya kay Maria. He’s being mean with his siblings, kay Maria pa ba?

“Sir. This is the sales---”   sinamaan nya ng tingin ang lalaking basta nalang pumasok sa kanyang office.

“Who the heck give you the permission to enter my office?”   madiin nyang tanong sa lalaki na bigla nalang namutla dahil sa takot.

Yup, he’s fucking mad right now.

“I’m sorry, Sir.”

“Sorry? Do you think your sorry is enough? You invaded my privacy! Don't you even know how to knock?”   tanong pa niya.

“Paumahin po, Sir. B-bago palang po ako rito.”

“I don't care, Mr. Santos! You have to be professional in any aspect! Siguro naman, alam ng commonsense mo na kabastusan ang hindi pagkatok sa pinto bago pumasok.”   he shouted, nakita nya ang pangalan nito sa suot na ID.

“You work for my company so work well. I don’t like workers without manners and I don’t like stupid employees. Do you understand, Mr. Santos?”

“Yes, Sir!”   nanginginig na sagot nito.

“Hand me the folder.”   he changed the subject before looking back at the other papers.

“Ito po.”   mabilis nitong inabot sa kanya ang folder.

“Out.”   utos nya na kaagad naman nitong sinunod.

He focused his full attention on evaluating their sales. Dapat ay matuwa siya dahil mas tumaas na naman ang kanilang sales ngunit hindi niya magawang magsaya. Well honestly, he never had fun but of course he still feels happy. Akala lang ng mga tao he doesn’t smile, he doesn’t laugh and he doesn’t feel happy which is too impossible. He’s still a human with feelings and emotions.

He just didn’t want to show it.

Nagpakawala siya ng isang malalim na buntong hininga at ipinagpatuloy ang trabaho niya. As he said earlier, hindi dapat siya mag-aksaya ng oras. He heard a knock but didn’t bother to look at the tinted glass door. He is busy.

“Hey cousin.”   marinig pa lamang nya ang boses ng pinsan nya ay napangiwi na agad sya.

It’s Jonathan. His cousin and friend.

“Busy?”   tanong nito nang maka-upo sa swivel chair na nasa harap ng table nya.

Hindi niya ito sinagot, wala naman siyang dapat isagot rito dahil wala rin namang katuturan ang mga sinasabi nito. Isa pa, isn’t it obvious? Even a baby knows how busy he is at work, no need to answer this asshole’s fucking question. Jonathan is just wasting his time.
