A few days prior to the current events of the fighting tournament, in the middle of the Hopian sea...
Seric's P.O.V
"Are we gonna go do the next trial soon? Because I bet it won't be long until the Hopian Army realizes we're the ones who beat Aeko." I ask lazily once again as I'm looking out into the sea with my chin resting on my knuckles. I really can't get used to the beautiful sunsets we see every day.
"Yeah, soon. Also go and grab the usual ingredients, I'll make us some food." Karia asks as she heads over to the small "kitchen area" on the deck of our boat which consists of a stove/oven, sink, and counter along with cutlery.
"Ughhhh, one more day of the same fish and rice and I'll personally feed myself to the fish out here." I think to myself as I get up and walk towards the junk room of our boat, already knowing where the ingredients are in the mess.
A minute later I walk out with all of them and plop them down on the counter next to her. "When we get to an island again, we should buy a bunch of different food so it's not the same thing every day." I say with a sigh, getting bored of sitting on this boat all day, as even though Karia let's me use her tablet sometimes, she still has it about 80% of the time leaving me to do nothing but play with some things she has laying around.
Well, I guess I can't complain, since there's no people yelling "FUWARU FUWARU" trying to kill us anymore... And now I made myself feel guilty again. Sigh.
"Yeah... Oh! I know. You seem pretty bored, so why don't you make yourself useful and fish for us?" Karia asks with enthusiasm.
"Don't we need a rod and bait though? And I don't know how to in the first place." I respond with doubt, not wanting to take the chance of looking stupid in front of her.
"Well I've got a new rod in the junk room, and it's not that hard to fish since the thing is super easy to use thanks to Hopian technology. So that just leaves the bait..." Karia says with a hand on her chin.
"I know it's usually worms that are used, but maybe there's something else we can use instead?" I ask, now actually slightly wanting to do this.
"Good idea, it depends where we are right now though..." Karia says as she pulls out her tablet, opening the app that shows where we are in Hopian.
"Oh, perfect! Seric, you still have those gummy worms we bought a while ago right?" Karia asks.
"Uh, yeah there may still be a few left, why?" I ask carefully, not wanting to give up one of my main forms of entertainment.
"Then it looks like we're in luck, according to this app the fish in this area are addicted to sugar." Karia responds.
"Oh, cool, I guess I'll go grab them then." I say reluctantly as I head towards the counter.
"I'm sorry, my little friends. But... your sacrifice will not be in vain." I think to myself sadly as I grab the bag of the last few gummy worms from the counter.
"Ah, here it is." I hear Karia say from the storage room which I didn't even notice she went to.
Looking over, in her hands she has a blue metal fishing rod of moderate size, with a strong looking string attached to it with a hook at the bottom.
"So I turn this on... Oh, there's a tutorial option on the screen or something. Here take it, I'll get ready to cook the rice and all that." Karia says as she fiddles with the rod. Heh.
I walk over, taking the rod from Karia and starting to go through the tutorial.
"Ok, so I turn this dial to set how far out I want the string to go, and then I swing the rod in the direction I want it to go in. Sounds easy enough, although I shouldn't jinx it." I say to myself as I turn the dial on the side of rod, putting it moderately high since I doubt fish will want to come near our small strange looking pure white boat.
