Karia's P.O.V.
Later that day, after a mopey walk towards Sariel's room...
❤❤❤
"Sup." I say as I try to hide my depressed mood- just hope he doesn't see through it though.
"Oh hi Karia. Hah- you ever seen the show "F.A.M.I.L.Y."? It's pretty funny actually." Sariel says with a laugh as he turns down the volume of his T.V. in his room as he lies in his hospital bed.
Sariel should be out of here by now, but he's not 'cause there might be a way to fix him. Yeah I had quite the chat with the doctors for not telling us that one sooner.
"Nope, heard of it though- Jessie is obsessed with it... also, any news on the cybernetics?" I ask with a hopeful look on my face as what Leraz said is barely even affecting me anymore now that I'm here. The reason why is because the results of whether or not the cybernetics can fix his "paralysis" should be in by now.
"Yeah. They confirmed that the surgery would be too risky to do with my body being in the state it's in right now... and plus that as of now there's little to no chance that it would be able to safely fix my damaged nerves..." Sariel says with a sigh.
"O-oh..." Is all I say back to him- though on the inside my heart drops...
"Eh it's... fine though. I've already started to accept that this'll be my new life. Commander Erucid even came in to see me today in crutches. The guy was bawling his eyes out and apologizing to me for not protecting us... of course I said it's not his fault but, I'm obviously still a tiiiinsy bit mad at him though. But hey, he said he would dedicate a fair amount of his salary to me every year so- better to be a rich handicapped guy than a poor one am I right?" Sariel says with a laugh somehow and I laugh along with him as I shake my head.
"Pfft that's one way to think of it, oh well then I guess. But, hm... you said you didn't want me to lie anymore- so, even with the implants, the run of challenges was still horrible today. You must of done it a bunch of times, so any advice you could give me?" I ask with a sad look on my face- but Sariel doesn't look sad at all and only gets ready to talk...
A few days later...
🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
"O.K. so remember what Jessie and Sariel told me- just don't put too much pressure on the cybernetics and it'll be fine!" I think to myself as I've already made it past the first two challenges in the run right now pretty easily, with me running right behind the top kids of the class- this is it, I'll make it!
"Shooter- right." Aora calls out as a few paintball shooting robots pop out from the ground and start shooting to the right of the track.
"Left." She calls out and I gently sidestep to the right- whoa!
"Middle and Right." Aora calls out and I panic a bit- but don't hesitate to bend down and spring myself all the way to the right and not getting hit once.
"Ow!" I cry to myself as I land- not nearly as bad as yesterday but still this is gonna slow me down for sure- damn!
"Last challenge incoming- prepare yourselves." Officer Aora calls out- I- I finally made it past the third one! But... damn no don't think about being tired!
*CLICK- PSSSSSSSSH!*
But of course when all of us are already tired we get the worst challenge to finish this shit off with- tear gas.
I shake my head to pump myself up and run straight into it, and of course right off the bat my eyes start to hurt like hell as I have no literally idea where I'm going except straight.
