~Catherine's pov

I know you might be wondering why Tanya gave me heads up about the cops, and why she hates Cindy so much. I'll tell you why.

Now Tanya is not your typical remorse girl, no, no, no. Life has taught her cruelty to no remorse.

After losing her father at the age of 5 and her mother at the age of 9, she learnt to look out for herself. Feeding and clothing oneself as a minor is not a joke. She dished the foster home care several times to live on the streets with a bunch of homeless kids.

She has an aunt, a very rich aunt. But she wouldn't allow Tanya anywhere near her house or her daughter, with the lame excuse that Tanya is always seen with thugs and stray kids who sell drugs on the streets. She claimed Tanya could be selling drugs too and will be a bad influence to her daughter. Guess who the aunt is.

It's none other than the Almighty Cindy's mother.

The truth is, Tanya did sell drugs with the other kids. You can't blame a girl for trying. She had to fed for herself. She had to survive. The ginger now is that Cindy heeded to her mother and avoided Tanya in school. She even calls Tanya 'Crackhead'. That there, is where Tanya's hatred for Cindy came from.

Now, as to why Tanya gave me heads up about the cops, well I guess she figured she can use a favour from me. That has always been the way things works with Tanya. Whenever she gets an information for you, she's definitely asking something from you in return.

Tanya has a strict policy;
NOTHING GOES FOR NOTHING!

Well she usually asks for money in return, except when she's in need of something else, like when she need to pass a subject. That's one of the many ways Tanya earns her livelihood since it's just her, no parents, no guardian, no relative, no family. The only family Tanya pretty much have are the thugs and drug dealers she works with.

Not to be unfair, Tanya is not my best friend. We're not even real friends. We just hang out because should I say we do business together? She does the dirty works for me, and I in return pays her in cash or help her to pass some subjects since she never seem to pass most subjects on her own.

People confuse me and Tanya as friends because we always hang out and have lunch together, when really it's just for the benefit we gain from each other.

And there's an ultimate reason why Tanya and I appear to be friends too, and that's Cindy's. I hate Cindy and she hates Cindy too. I'd do anything to hurt Cindy, and Tanya would do same. So I figured that I need not preach to Tanya, she's already on the same mission as I am.

Do you know the saying that goes 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend?' Well that's the case with me and Tanya.

Something doesn't seem right here. If this cop has something on me, he should've pinned it on me by now.

I folded my arms across my chest, sinking slightly into my chair. I stared at Detective Gordon deep in the eyes, "That's why we're here, isn't it?" I huffed out. "So, let's talk about the fire."

Detective Gordon chuckled slightly, clearly impressed by my cold response. He pressed forward from his chair, staring back into my eyes. I guess we're both trying to play the 'tough guy'
