*at the school pool*
~Alex's pov
I ran my hand through my hair and sightly adjusted in my seat. I kept practicing what to say to Vicky in my head as I watch the girls doing their swim rehearsals. Both Vicky, Melissa and Veronica were in the school swim team.
After debating if I should tell her in school, over a dinner, or somewhere else. An idea came to me, what if I told her on our way home? She'll give me a ride home, and of course Melissa will go in her own car, hopefully she'll give Veronica a ride. So that will somehow leave me alone with Vicky.
"Hey." A voice said behind me causing me to jerk up. I felt my face blush as I saw a tan and slim body in a swimsuit.
"Uh, hey Vicky. Uh, where's Veronica and Melissa?" I mentally face-palm myself for stuttering.
"They're changing." Vicky replied.
"Okay? So uh, ain't you gonna change?" I scratched my head nervously.
"Sure, I will. But I'm staying back for a while, I have a special rehearsal with our captain and few other girls. Our couch doesn't know about it but we're going to surprise him with it once we've perfected it."
"Oh, and uh, Melissa and Veronica didn't want to join in?"
"Our captain selected the girls she wanted. Unfortunately, Melissa and Veronica weren't selected."
"I see" I blurted.
Vicky sat beside me. I tried to suppress the flaunting feeling in my tummy. I'm gonna have the chance to tell Vicky how I feel after all.
Veronica and Melissa came out of the dress room, and came over to where Vicky and I were. I drew a few unsteady breath, this is it. As soon as they're gone, I'll come straight to Vicky.
"Hey Lex." Veronica grinned at me as they came close.
"Hey Veronica." I nodded at her.
"Alex, what's up" Melissa said to me.
"I'm good, you heading home right away?" I asked hoping to hear a yes.
"Well yes. Veronica and I are going to the mall, too bad Vicky can't come with. She's got some weird rehearsals whatsoever to do." Melissa said, rolling her eyes. Vicky and Veronica giggled.
"You're just mad captain didn't pick up to join us." Vicky teased.
"You tripping. I don't care what captain thinks, besides I've got to go shopping. I wouldn't miss that for anything." Melissa retorted. She checked her wristwatch, "damn, we've gotta go now."
"Okay girls, love you love you." Vicky hugged Melissa and Veronica.
"love you love you too." Melissa and Veronica said in unison.
"Bye Lex." Veronica waved at me as Melissa pulled her away by the arm towards the exit door.
"Yeh, bye Vee." I waved back. I swallowed hard, seeing that both girls are gone now.
This is it, this is it, I thought.
"We should begin practice in five minutes." Vicky said, glaring at her wristwatch, "sure you wanna wait?"
