Besides, we're already wrapping up for our lessons because the finals exams would come soon, and it's probably best for me to study at home instead. Heh-heh. Hope you enjoy this chapter guys, I stayed up late at night into the morning writing this :)

Chapter 8: Getting Closer

David Zhou lay on his bed that night, staring at the dark ceiling. His phone on the bedside table kept on pinging, but he didn't mind picking it up. He figured they're from Xiaoge.

Wearing nothing but his underwear, David's sweat trickled down his face and into the sheets beneath, dampening the bed.

He kept on thinking the shenanigans with Eric that afternoon. The way he wrestled Eric, and the way Eric fought back. It seemed like both of them wouldn't let themselves be dominated by the other.

David couldn't help imagining those dark eyes of Eric, those black hole eyes which seemed to draw David in.

David gritted his teeth and smacked himself on the head. What the hell am I thinking? Damn, stop these thoughts, David! You're not like that, what's happening to you?

But the more he tried shrugging these thoughts off, the more Eric's cold but gorgeous face kept on creeping back to his mind. David wanted to touch that face, pinch those cheeks, pull those ears. It seemed like he's bewitched now, unable to explain why he's having feelings like this towards another boy. And a random boy whom he didn't even know yet! Heck, he didn't even know Eric's surname!

Suddenly, David realized the pings coming from his phone. He was suddenly pulled back to reality, his thoughts of Eric trailing off and finally receding at the corners of his mind.

He picked up the phone. Sure enough, the notifications were from Xiaoge, bugging him again.

"I miss you so much, baby!"

"I wish you're hugging me right now!"

"Did you know, I went to the restaurant where we had our first date, and retraced our steps? Baby, I can't stop thinking about you!"

Damn, this girl is crazy!

David was a bit irritated by Xiaoge's clinginess, but at the same time he was amused of her childlike behavior. It was probably one of the things that made David fall for her.

He continued reading the hundreds of messages, filled with crying stickers and crying GIFs. Not much was different in Xiaoge's messages. All of them only had slight variations. The only essence of her messages is: I miss you and I hope I'm with you.

However, the last message, sent just two seconds ago, made David sit up on the bed suddenly.

"I'm gonna go there. I actually booked a flight already. You're not replying anyway, so I made this tough decision to be with you! Just wait for me, baby!" This message was full of kissing stickers.

David was surprised. This Xiaoge's very decisive, willing to take risks just for him. David felt touched, but he didn't reply to her as usual.

At class the next day, their class adviser told them that an acquaintance party would be held next Saturday.

"This is sort of like a tradition in this school already," their teacher said, his rolls of fat quivering with excitement, though his facial expressions were nonchalant. As usual, an eerie gleam of light kept on reflecting his squarish eyeglasses wherever he is, making it hard for his students to see his actual eyes. "Because of this, I'm gonna require you to prepare a small presentation, to see your talents and hidden potentials. This is also a great way to get to know each other better and to be at ease with each other."
