Eric's face was totally lit up while listening to teacher Gabriel's lecture. Eric was so unlike him today, smiling slightly with dimpled cheeks and with bright face that seemed to be always brightened by the sunlight.
David side-eyed Eric, confused if Eric was smiling because of their current state of friendship, or if he was smiling because of that damned teacher.
"...And who's that historical figure again? Anyone?" Gabriel looked around the class for a volunteer.
David was shocked to see Eric's arm shot up beside him. It's so unlike him to volunteer for class discussions.
"It's Tandang Sora, the woman whose name was also used in an avenue in Quezon City," Eric happily chirped.
David eyed him with round eyes and furrowed eyebrows.
"Very good. We as people of the present, should looks up to our historical figures and emulate the values that made them notable people. Compassion, nationality, love for our countrymen, courage..."
David wrote something on a piece of paper and handed it to Eric.
Eric read the writing on the paper: Why are you happy today?!
Eric wrote something then handed it to David: None of your business.
David sucked air through his scrunched up nose.
Eric smirked. He remembered what happened this morning.

It was at the break of dawn when his mother Marilyn woke him up. When Eric got up, that priest was already at the living room, wearing all black clothing like a devil's
messenger.
Eric bowed to him and immediately, the priest said a little chanting prayer before sprinkling him with holy water.
Eric, just like what he was doing these past few days, pretended to be in pain, jerking dramatically as if being burnt by the glorious droplets of holy water.
He even shrieked like a demon just to be believable. He felt like an actor in a horror film.
His mother Marilyn's eyes turned moon-round as Eric acted like he's in pain, growling and wilding like a beast in distress. Of course, Marilyn knew that all of the priest thing was a lie, yet here's her son acting as if he's actually being exorcised by this sham priest.
Marilyn started to believe that Eric really had a demonic being inside him. Maybe it's all real?! His hanging out with Feng's son actually caused my son to house a demon in his body?!
