Note: It's been a while since I last updated. Nothing much has been happening recently, except the fact that I'm so full today. I ate a lot. Also, Pentagon's latest comeback (Hmph! 접근금지) is wrecking me aaahhh... I can't with: (1) Hui's mullet; (2) the height difference situation going on in the concept; (3) and tons more I can't think straight right now lmao.

Anyway, happy reading the two new chapters. Don't forget to vote if you liked it, comment if you have sth to say, and whatnot. Happy days ahead!

Chapter 42: House of a Million Eyes

Come the next morning, Eric felt like there's something different in him. Sure, he woke up on his dilapidated couch again, and the ceiling above was still collecting dust and cobwebs, but the morning just seemed to give off an unexplainably joyful atmosphere.

It's like the birds on the roof seemed to have gotten their shit together and actually sang in unison, and not in their usual, irritating morning chirps.

The sunlight pouring from the slits of the window jalousies were also warmer, and more vivid.

Eric, washing his face on the sink in the bathroom, suddenly realized that he was smiling. Involuntarily.

What am I so happy about?

He asked himself this question.

Maybe it's because it's a long vacation from school. For once, he won't be able to see Jarwin's face. For once, he'd be able to rest and not think about anything at all. No deadlines, no annoying teachers, no irritating classmates, no homework.

Was it really the reason?

Or maybe it's because his date with David yesterday was so good. God, was it a date? He erased the thought suddenly, then opted for the former reason.

Yeah, I'm happy because it's semestral break.

After drying his hair with a towel, Eric looked at his face for the last time in the mirror then winked at his reflection.

He then went to the living room to bask under the warm glow of the television showing those childish cartoons. Eric didn't like watching those type of shows, but this time, he seemed to enjoy it and even laughed at the silly antics of that brown mouse terrorizing the grey cat. He giggled like a little kid.

Someone cleared her throat. Eric looked at its direction.

It was Marilyn, emerging from her room like a refined lady wearing a pure white dress which seemed to make her even more elegant. A cloud of rosy perfume emanated from her dress and assailed Eric's nostrils.

Marilyn had a long, slender, and swan-like neck to begin with, and now that she's in a white dress with a collar that bared her neck and a bit of her shoulders, she now looked like a swan in human form.

"Are you attending a wedding or something?" Eric asked, confused and shocked at his mother's attire.

"No, I'm meeting Jesus Christ."

Eric's jaw dropped. He got even more confused.

"Where? In heaven?"

"No, silly, in the church." Marilyn responded, then gestured at Eric to get up from the floor. "Stop fooling around. Make yourself dressed."

"When was the last time you went to church? If I'm not mistaken, you're not the most devout person that I know, Ma."

"And it's about to change now. I even bought myself a rosary and a bible, and a Santo Niño for my room to top it all off."
