David couldn't sleep that night. No matter how hard he tried, he still lay awake on his bed staring at the dark ceiling of his room. He tossed and turned and tossed and turned.

He just finished counting the 72,564,236th sheep, yet here he is still awake with eyes wide open and pupils dilated.

He scratched his head numerous times. Frustration seeped through his system until he finally sat on the bed and sighed.

He suddenly knew why he couldn't sleep.

He couldn't stop thinking about Eric. That kid would get in trouble without me... He thought, worried to death. If he really believes he's possessed, then it's possible that he'd lash out on other people around him. Just like what he did to me this morning...

What if he lashed out on a drunkard in the street? Or a goon with a knife in his pocket?! David started worrying endlessly, thinking of the many unfortunate scenarios Eric could find himself in.

David felt he needed to do something.

He stepped out of the room and in the darkness of the hallway he suddenly stopped on his tracks when he heard a muffled conversation coming from the kitchen.

Like a cat, David tiptoed through the darkness until he was beside the doorway of the kitchen. Peering through, he saw his father Feng Zhou. He had his back against the doorway, standing in front of the kitchen window which illuminates Feng in moonlight, making him look like a being of light amidst the dark blue darkness. Feng was talking on his phone.

"...continue with the plan. Make him believe..."

David's eyes squinted. Something's fishy around here... He drew closer.

Feng stayed silent. Then suddenly laughed softly. "I told you, morality is a powerful weapon." He laughed again.

David reckoned the person at the other end of the line was laughing too. He suddenly felt cold, as if the creature before him was a ruthless demon laughing its heart out under the moonlight.

"...if this continues, he might finally part with his sinful ways and stop bothering him..." Feng chuckled again.

David's eyes squinted even more until they were nothing but horizontal lines.

"Yes, of course, that priest must be rewarded... Yes..."

David wasn't able to sleep that night.

Early in the morning, David found himself in front of Eric's house like a paranoid housewife. He just had literally half an hour of sleep as he couldn't take the words off of his mind—words he heard from Feng last night. He was restless the entire night until the break of sunlight today.

He was about to peer into the window of Eric's house, when suddenly, the door banged open.

"What are you doing here?"

Eric looked sleepy, with dark circles around his eyes.

David's surprised face and jerky motion made him look like a burglar who just got caught by the police.
