Hi there! Thank you again for the few people who had time to check my novel. It's really nice to know that there's people, although few, who read your writings. It makes me smile. Hope you continue reading Water & Fire. I promise I'll continue writing, especially today that the semester just finished, and it's the monsoon break once again. It's a nice feeling that all the exams are over. I survived it.

Have fun reading!

Chapter 12: A Strange Girl

Ever since Eric got friends with Olivia, he has always been excited to go to school. Today, both he and Olivia were eating together at the cafeteria, to the detriment of his friendship with Charlie.

Olivia was tapping away at her phone while drinking banana milk. She just finished eating two burgers, one meal of siomai rice, and two packs of peanut butter biscuits. Of course, she shared some with Eric, but still, it's very unbelievable where a petite girl like Olivia would store all that she's eaten. Eric was awestruck watching her eat.

Charlie was beside them, although he seemed sullen because he isn't with Eric by himself.

I actually don't like this Olivia girl very much, Charlie thought, arms crossed while watching Eric and Olivia chat about random topics. He didn't like Olivia because she has an odd sense of air in her, like she doesn't care about the world around her. Besides, she's snobbish and doesn't like to be friends with anyone very much, including Charlie.

Eric noticed Charlie's sullenness and talked to him. "Still sad about the outrage that happened at the party?"

Charlie shook his head.

"Then why are you sad?" Eric thought for a second. "Oh, I saw that the thing that happened in the party got posted at the school's unofficial blog page." Eric gazed coldly into space and clenched his teeth. "It's so cruel of them to publicize that."

Olivia turned her head from her phone. "You can't do anything about that," she nonchalantly said. "That's how it is in this school. It's about surviving. If you can't learn to go with the flow, you'll just gonna stress yourself to death." She popped a chewing gum and chewed.

Eric sighed. "You're right."

"Hey, wanna hang out later at my house? It's just a ride away from here."

Charlie's face got more twisted. And now they're hanging out? The heck, she didn't even invite me! Don't you dare take my only friend away from me! The next time he wakes up, he'll probably be friendless again.

Charlie turned to Eric. "Hey, we're going somewhere after school, right?" Charlie lied.

"Going where?"

"Um, anywhere!" Charlie searched for words. "We already discussed about it last week, right? We're gonna hang out? So Olivia, stop there for a second because Eric and I already had an appointment after school."

"Huh?!" Eric was confused.

Olivia's expressionless eyes gazed over Charlie, chewing her gum. "If I say that we have a date, we have a date, okay? Who are you anyway?"

Charlie was fuming. "Hey! I'm Eric's friend, you know? We've been friends even before you came! Heck, you don't care about having friends anyway, just sitting there at the corner and doodling on your notebook!"

Olivia's unblinking eyes gazed at Charlie's cadaver. "Eric's friend, huh? Hmph, it's not like you've been friends for centuries—you just came into his life, just like I did, who are you to claim him?" She then fumbled for her notebook in her bag and flipped the pages of the back part. "And doodling? This is called art!"
