Note: It's only a week before the new semester starts again. To be honest, I still doesn't want this school vacation to end. It's been raining these past few months and I'm still too lazy to move, let alone think about school lessons. Ah... How I wish I could stop the time (。•́︿•̀。)

Anyway, here's another chapter for y'all. Hope you like it.

Chapter 53: Misconstrued Gestures

Eric was floating in an endless sea. He let his body be carried by the gentle waves. The sky above is a shade of pink, and the wind is singing a gentle song that makes him want to drift further into oblivion.

Someone nudged him. Then it shook him. When Eric raised his head, their teacher's comforting face filled his vision.

Gabriel was smiling at him, with shy eyes that seemed to express how sorry he was for waking him up.

"Were you sleeping in my class, Mr. Mendoza?" He asked with puppy eyes.

Fuck...

Eric straightened on his seat. "Sir, I— I'm very sorry." Eric bowed his head.

Gabriel's hand touched his shoulder and made Eric look at him. "That's fine. Although I'm not saying it's okay to sleep in my class. But Mr. Mendoza, please, if you're feeling under the weather, feel free to talk to me." The teacher then turned towards the whole class. "I told you before, I'd be willing to be an older brother to you all."

Jarwin found himself smiling very lightly, but when Gabriel the fine teacher turned towards Eric again, Jarwin couldn't help involuntarily cracking his knuckles.

"Are you feeling bad, Mr. Mendoza? Do you have a fever? You look pale."

Teacher Gabriel's smooth hand suddenly touched Eric's neck, sensing if he had a fever or something. He kept his hand on Eric's skin for a long while, feeling his neck. It also felt for his forehead.

With a naive expression on his face, Gabriel said, "But your temperature's fine, I think... Oh, well..."

Gabriel returned to the front of the class to face the students. He gave a very brief and reassuringly cute smile to Eric, then resumed discussing about ethics.

Suddenly, Eric became very awake and rejuvenated. It's as if a ray of sunlight has dispersed the haze in his mind. Since morning, he had been feeling very tired. The reason is because those darned nightmares kept on recurring since the past few days.

In his nightmares, Eric always faced that same creature: a terrible, three-headed being from hell. One of its head is that of a predatory creature with a very long tongue. The other head is a chameleon-like reptilian creature which changed colors. And the third head is a skull with big, red glowing eyes.

The first head's tongue always chased Eric, and at one point, it even managed to creep towards his neck, wrapping itself around him numerous times, dripping a slimy liquid into Eric's body.

The second head was similar to the first one, in that this reptilian being also seemed to lust over him. The difference was, this reptilian creature is more shrewd and reserved, with a piercing look in its reptilian eyes that always reflected an insidious glint of light. Its scaly face also changed colors and patterns on numerous occasions.

The third head was even more sinister. It looked like a skull with big hollow eyes which seemed to glow red from the hollow interior of the skull. This creature had a self-righteous voice, which never failed to degrade Eric, persecuting him for everything that he was doing.

The dream that Eric just had in the classroom before being woken up by Gabriel, was one of the best dreams that he had. It's a shame that it was cut short.
