At school, Eric couldn't help feeling restless in his seat. He shuffled his feet several times, not knowing whether he'd like his left foot in front of his right foot, or vice-versa. He also kept on shifting his weight from the left side of his body to his right side, his body leaning on the wooden armchair which creaked until it felt like it would give in to his weight. Tension filled his body.

Especially since David was nowhere to be found. Not even the shadow of a strand of his hair was present in the school premises.

Eric kept on cursing under his breath, ballpen spinning in his fingers.

Where is that damned kid?!

The classes passed through Eric's existence like unnoticed ghosts that didn't leave any impression in Eric's troubled mind.

When the lunch bell rang, Eric stayed seated on his chair. Once the students flooded the hallways, Eric looked around him, and sneakily, hooked his backpack on his right hand's fingers. He had planned this way earlier. He has to talk to him.

He has to find him. Now.

He sneakily walked out of the classroom and into the hallway, clutching his backpack with his right hand.

Eric was three steps away from the room when someone cleared his throat.

Eric was stopped on his feet. Slowly, he turned his head.

Teacher Gabriel's gentle eyes met his. Gabriel smiled sadly and approached Eric.

"Heading somewhere?"

Meanwhile, David was limp-walking to school, and at about 10AM, he was already at the school gates. Realizing he wore no uniforms and that he left his school ID at home, he cursed under his breath while staring at the school's formidable wall.

There was no way for him to get in, and there's also no way in hell that he would wait for Eric after classes in the afternoon. If he waited for Eric after school, by then, David would already be a fermented pickle.

He thought of ways to get in to school, and remembered the incident that morning when he scaled their backyard's wall like a hiker from the Himalayas.

Arms hurting, wounded, and scab marks on his face, David realized there's only one way to get to Eric.

He scaled the school wall at the secluded side of the school where narra trees grow. With a final jump, he landed on a patch of grass with a helpless groan, clutching his leg.
