Eric was doing his usual pushups in the living room. He was breathing hard, sweaty, and frustrated. That boy called David makes things even harder for him.
As much as he didn't like that priest, Eric didn't also like David acting like he cared for him so deeply. First, both of them are guys, and as his mother always said, Jesus hates you-know-what. Second, David already had his lovey-dovey Chinese girlfriend that he loves parading at school, so he shouldn't be touchy with him anymore!
And even more importantly, he felt like shit being slapped by David! Tch, as if he really cared for me!
Eric sighed and sat up after finishing the 10th set of his pushups. Sweat trickled down his face.
He stared at the setting sun outside the window and wondered when he'll have a peace of mind. Will he stop being sleepless once that priest completely exorcises the shit out of him?
But then again, Eric wondered, is there really something wrong with him? Is there a demon residing within him? Is it wrong for him to be close to David? Thoughts like these make Eric feel even more frustrated and restless.
He suddenly remembered the things about that priest that David told him early that morning. That David heard his father talking over the phone about some morality or weapon or some shit like that.
Eric suddenly realized David was talking nonsense. Like what he'd been doing ever since.

That evening, after eating dinner, washing the dishes, and reading some textbooks, Eric heard his mother's voice from her room.
Eric drew his ears closer to the door and listened.
"...he's getting better, I think... Yes, Father came to our house this morning..."
Eric gulped.
"I think the exorcisms are doing wonders. Yes, indeed, religion is a powerful weapon..."
"Yeah, I really hope so 'cause I think they're not good for each other... I also want my son to have a girlfriend... I wanna have a grandchild, you know?" Then Marilyn laughed. Shrilly. Like the thin voice of a disappearing ghost.
"Okay, bye. Thank you sir Zhou."
Eric's eyes turned round as the moon outside. He suddenly felt like something clicked. David's words suddenly made sense. Is this what that boy was talking about?!
Am I being persecuted by both of our parents?!
