Chapter 13: The Creeper Gets Creeped on
The moment Olivia and Eric left the classroom together, David felt something wrench at his heart. He wanted to know why the two suddenly became close friends just like that.
"Hey, bro, I'm going ahead," David parted ways with Jarwin, Jaguar, and Loco, and started chasing after Olivia and Eric.
Going out the school gates, David noticed that the two chatted away happily, like two young lovers basking in the sunset glow of the afternoon. Damn, this sunset's meant for Eric and I!
David kept a distance of a few meters away from those two, just so they wouldn't find him sneaking behind like a creeper when they turn their heads. Fortunately for David, there were throngs of people in the streets at this time, so he blended pretty well with the crowd.
When the two boarded a jeepney, David followed quickly behind and also boarded the jeep, sitting at the farthest corner near the back, masking his face with his slender hands so Eric and Olivia won't recognize him.
The jeep drove for 10 minutes or so. During this time, Olivia stopped the driver and she and Eric started getting off the jeep. David held his breath and covered his face with his backpack while the two were going past him. Still, he was lucky to not have gotten caught. He closely followed behind, and the three of them got off the jeep.
The two then walked towards a house with an attic, with a mint green gate. David hid behind a bush while Eric and Olivia enter the gate. His eyes secretly follow Olivia's and Eric's backs. Soon, the two entered the front door and were nowhere to be seen.
Not a bad house, he thought to himself. Whose house is it? Why did they go here? He wanted these questions answered. His curiosity towards this matter really makes him restless.
David stayed there behind the bush across the street, staring at the dimly-lit attic of the house where lights and faint laughter seemed to have been emanating.
Having fun, ah? He felt his heartstrings being pulled so hard that he clutched at his chest. Eric, why are you doing this to me, ah?
When he finally gave up, David realized the sky above was the color of purple with only the faint glow of pink from the sunset lighting up wisps of clouds. He looked at the sky for a moment, feeling the peacefulness of the silent afternoon. His handsomely sculpted face was illuminated by the pink glow of the sky.
David, do you not have anything better to do? He asked himself. Chasing after a boy, ah? He smiled to himself. I'm so stupid. Why am I like this? Why am I like this towards Eric?! He wanted to know the answer himself. It seemed like he was simply bewitched by that awesome guy who had a nice face, and who danced like a real idol.
---
Unbeknownst to David, he was also being followed by his three so-called "friends."
Jarwin, Loco, and Jaguar had noticed since the beginning that David seemed to always stare at Eric. At first they wondered if David wanted to bully Eric too, but they noticed at the acquaintance party when David and Eric danced together on stage, that they realized that David's stares at Eric were more than anything they've known. They were stares of admiration.
And today, when Jarwin noticed that David had this angry face while staring at Olivia and Eric, he knew right then that David's up to something. That's why, as soon as David left the classroom, Jarwin informed Jaguar and Loco about David's peculiar behavior and suggested they follow him.
And that was what they did.
And now, seeing him hiding behind a bush just to stare at Olivia and Eric entering a house with an attic, Jarwin realized that there's something really fishy about this David.
Jarwin smirked, and shot photos of David looking helplessly at the dimly-lit attic of the house across the street. When Jarwin showed the photo to Jaguar and Loco, they began sniggering. They can't help laughing at David's longing eyes. It seemed like David's eyes longed for his long lost lover.
Loco whispered, "I think David's falling for that guy."
Jarwin smirked and made a disgusting face. "Too early to say. Let's wait for more clues."
Jaguar zoomed at the photo using his fat fingers. "You look at those eyes and tell me that's not admiration! Fuck, our friend David's going crazy over Eric!" This made the three chuckle with amusement.

Having enough of this waiting game, David walked out of the bush and with despondent legs began walking back to where he came from, when suddenly he heard a familiar chuckle coming from behind a pot of plant along the street.
When he looked back, he saw his three "friends" crowding behind that plant. David was shocked.
"What are you all doing here, ah?!"
The three stood still behind the plant.
"Don't hide anymore! I've seen you already!"
Jarwin emerged from the plant and with a smirk on his lips, arrogantly dusted his shoulders off. His eyes looked accusing, staring directly at David's. "Tell us, what are you doing here?"
David looked at the sky and in the surroundings as if searching for an answer. "Nothing, just enjoying the trees and the cool breeze."
David quickly realized there were no trees around. What a lame excuse!
Jaguar, Jarwin, and Loco slowly approached David like a pack of hyenas, wanting to tear him to pieces. They blocked David's path. "Enjoying the breeze, ha? Deliberately going here just to enjoy the breeze?" Jarwin said. "Last time I knew, your house was not located around this area?" Jarwin put his tongue in his cheek annoyingly.
"What's it to you if I wanted to go here, ah?" David was becoming fumed. He was becoming sick of this strange actuation of his friends. They're making him uneasy.
Jarwin didn't say anything, just walked closer towards David to the point that his cigarette breath assailed David's nostrils, and patted him on the shoulder and squeezed it playfully.
David threw Jarwin's hand away. "Are you looking for a beating, ah?!"
The three bullies chuckled and looked at each other like they understood something that only they have access to. Their eyes were definitely smiling.
Jarwin then walked closer to David again, this time his face cold and threatening. "Tomorrow, you join the basketball team," he said, pointing at David's chest. "A teammate's legs got injured. We need something to fill for him. That's the reason we followed you."
David's already narrow eyes squinted at Jarwin's face, as if unconvinced, but when he saw that Jarwin's face was serious, he agreed to his proposal. "Sure," he said confidently, as if accepting a major challenge that would determine life or death.
The three walked away from David, walking away towards a parked motorcycle nearby. Jarwin lazily waved his hand without facing David, then threw his legs over the motorcycle. Jarwin and Loco then crammed themselves in the back seat. In a flash, Jarwin drove the motorcycle away, speeding and tearing through the street with a screeching roar, and billowing out clouds of black smoke which caused David to cough profusely.
He gritted his teeth.
