(This started as just for Sunrays and Moonbeams but now Becharmed needs that as well)

So I realize that a lot of the words in my story Sunrays and Moonbeams don't make a lot of sense. The fact that it is all from my boy James's point of view so I decided to put translations in here for everyone. When I manage to get to a point of being able to explain it I might get rid of this, but probably not as it will have some added stuff that won't be able to be added. I might add some of their gods as well here. This won't be a drabble so much as a info dump. So you are warned. If you notice any other words that are 'alien slang' you don't understand feel free to ask.

Hatchling; Baby or toddler. Probably about to four or five years old

Nestling; Older toddler and child. Probably from five or six years old to eleven or twelve

Youngling; A child in puberty, twelve or thirteen to being an adult.

Murmuration; Community

Flock; Family

Mythos; Their religion as well as their ancient history

Lore Keeper; A job that is a cross between an historian and librarian

Scribe; A job that is to keep records for the Lore Keeper

Brood; this is what you call a group of children (hatchling, nestling, youngling, or even adult) who are from the same parents. It happens when there are three or more children. So for example if the aliens had three or more young they'd be called their brood (ex/That's Jeremey and Bonnie's brood) as opposed to one or two young (ex/That's Jeremy and Bonnie's hatchling(s)/nestling(s)/youngling(s))

Young: Referring to children at large.

Nest: Home

Enclave: Room in the nest.

Colony: A neighborhood/city

Maiden: A girl who is no longer a youngling but hasn't gone through the Change. A girl who is basically sixteen or seventeen

Mander: A boy who is no longer an youngling but hasn't gone through the Change. A boy who is basically sixteen or seventeen

the Change; The moment where they become an adult. It is where they are able to go searching for their mate, if they grew up knowing each other would have no way to know that it was them (despite everyone could know because if they got a crush on them it would only ever happen to their mate) they would feel the pull knowing it was their mate. They will also show the constellation their mate was born under on their forehead. If their mate is dead it is what will happen where they will die horribly.

Swift: A small amount of flight, only a foot or two off the ground that a Nestling usually does or if a wing is injured, it is normally done to learn to fly or if a wing is injured is done as a form of physical therapy.

Care Taker; a job of caring for anyone who needs it: both day care and elderly home basically.

Mate-(family member); mother, father, sister, brother, cousin etc of a mate is then considered that person. It basically is an in-law but it is considered once mating that the family of your mate is the same as a member of your own family.

Fledgling; a person who is a Maiden or Mander. Basically you can think of it like for humans calling someone a teenager. It isn't gendered but an age thing.

Nest: this is two possible words; it can mean home/house or bed/bedroom and it depends on the situation which word it means.

Primary Nest: This is the bedroom/bed of the heads of the household, like a nuclear family they would be the parents room

Brood Nest: It is customary that when living at home all the children except hatchlings would stay in a bed/bedroom together.

Secondary Nest: This is a nest that would be for anyone outside of the nuclear family, for example if there was a nuclear family along with extended family, like an aunt, living with them, they'd stay in the secondary nest, this can also be a guest room if someone is only staying in the nest for a temporary time.

Mateless Vs Unmated; When giving the full title of someone it would be as a child by their age; such as the Hatchling Theodore, the Nestling Suzy, the Youngling Jacob, the Maiden Jessica, the Mader Jim and when they are full grown they go by who their mate is. Like Damien, Mate of Klarissa, but then if they are an adult but had not found their mate they would be called two possible different things. If they weren't the emotionless version when their mate had died before they found each other would be called mateless, like Lenore the Mateless, while if they just had not found their mate but knew their mate was alive they would be unmated, like Leonardo the Unmated. I used names from my story when I could but as there are no named Fledglings for instance I did a random name.

Okay now for Becharmed

Unlike Sunrays and Moonbeams this story is a third person story but it all does focus on Asda's point of view and the naga side of things.

Nagas; Nagas are not to be confused with Gorgons, though they are closely related they are not the same, gorgons are immortal, have snakes in their hair, and a handful of other things that are different. A way to think of it is like wolves and dogs.

Names; Nagas tend to name their children after parts of nature they tend to be around like trees and flowers, as well as past royalty. In their heyday there was royalty but they had slowly lost their power and over time became nothing but a regular family still the names they used are common.

Neonate; this is the name for a child but that is from a few days old till they become an adult

Egg; how their gestation works is they carry the child for about seven to eight months where they will lay the egg, they are like humans and mostly only have one egg at a time, it's impossible to lay more than one, multi-births can happen but that would mean two or more are hatched from one egg. When the egg is laid once the egg is laid the instincts will take over and the mother can't be moved for the seven to ten days that will take a egg to hatch.

Nest; this both means the home, the bedroom, and the bed. Depending on the context it can mean any of the three. Their home is mostly just a few different rooms for the different members of the family but prepping food, reliving themselves and bathing is all done outside.

The Acceptance; The Acceptance is where the family formally accepts the mate of one member of the family into the family as a whole. That is where the mate is considered a child to the parents and a sibling to the siblings.

Clutch; This is the word they use for children to a family, for instance Asda and her older siblings Oak, Leaf, Basil and Juniper are all part of a clutch.
