Chapter 28 ● Dying in my head ○

"Valley and I were friends but then she started to become distant and she began to ignore me... she used to tell me about a lot of the things Darren was doing to her... how badly he hurt her and stuff like that... I would do my best to comfort her... but it wasn't enough to keep her close. She ignored me a lot... then she pretends she doesn't know me too... I only just got back in contact with her when Darren started messing with you Cal" Ashton explains. "That must've been awful" Calum replies. "So you lied to me about how you had Valley's number?" Luke questions. "Yeah I did, I'm sorry I just didn't want you to know" he answers Luke. "It's fine I get it" Luke replies.

"I'm out of here, I'm so done with your nonsense" Darren tells Cade whilst taking a step towards his front door. "My nonsense?! What about your nonsense?!" He shouts after Darren while he's out the door.

I gotta think of ways to ruin Darren's game... maybe I could change Calum's mind and make him against everything I think Darren has in store for him... make him so resistant to everything he tries to do to him... hmm... sounds like a good idea to me Cade thinks to himself.

Calum goes back to his room. He sits on his bed. So Ashton and Valley were friends, and she would tell him about what Darren was doing to her, and then Darren moved on to play games with me and Ashton didn't care to mention this until now? Calum thinks to himself. "Hey Calum!" Cade shouts though his thoughts making Calum's head hurt. "What do you want Cade?" He asks him.

I know I said I wasn't going to bother Calum much... but he plays major role in what Darren is doing... if I can predict Darren's moves, I can make Calum see what he'll be doing to him but a much darker worse version so when Darren actually tries to do it to him he'd be really resistant Cade thinks to himself.

"You'll see" Cade replies to Calum. "Can't you just tel-" he tries to respond but before he could finish Cade traps him in his own mind. Calum ends up in a pitch black place. "No no no no no" he says to himself. "Fuck you Cade!" he shouts knowing Cade would hear him. He hears Cade laugh. "I thought you said you weren't gonna do anything like this again!" He shouts to Cade again. "I've changed my mind" he hears Cade's reply.

Cade finally gets Calum out of his mind or so it seems. "Hey Calum meet me at the nightclub now I have something to tell you" Cade tells him through his thoughts. "Right now?" He asks. "Yes right now" he replies. "Okay I'll be there" he responds.

Calum leaves his house to walk to the nightclub and his friends decide to follow him. "Don't worry we won't bother you" Ashton tells him as he realised that Calum was giving the three of them weird looks. "Okay" he replies to him.

"What is it you wanna talk about Cade?" Calum asks him when he found him when he arrived at the nightclub. "Darren's after you" he replies to him. "I don't know what he has planned but he said he needed to see you" he adds to his reply. "I'm in danger?" He questions in reply. "Yeah he said he's doing a major part of his plan now" he answers. "So, why make me leave the safety of my home?" He asks. "I didn't want to invade your privacy at your house" he replies.

"I'm gonna get a drink" Calum says walking towards the bar. He sees someone in a dark blue hoodie give Valley something in a tiny glass jar and say something he can't comprehend but chooses to ignore the situation. "My usual please Val" Calum tells her. "Sure" she replies. She mixes his drink and while he isn't looking she spills the contents in the tiny jar that mysterious guy gave her in his drink.

"Thanks" Calum says to Valley as she passes him his drink. He goes back to Cade's booth with his drink. "Why is what Darren does to me your concern?" He asks him. "I don't want him to do what he did to Valley to you" he replies to him. "Oh, is that so?" He asks a question in response. "Yeah" he responds.

Calum takes a sip of his drink but doesn't notice anything different about it. "You need to leave soon, he could strike at any time" Cade tells him. "I'm staying since I came all the way here" he replies to him. "Fine suit yourself, but don't say that I didn't warn you if something does happen" he replies.

I'm not leaving because I don't believe anything Cade's telling me. For all I know it's all a bunch of bullshit. I don't trust him even for one second. He betrayed his brother a number of times. Plus he lied to me too. So, what makes me think I can trust him? Calum thinks to himself.

Well he's an idiot isn't he? Maybe he likes getting himself into dangerous situations. I can't believe he hasn't realised it yet either... I thought he was smarter than this... I suppose I keep underestimating him... Cade thinks to himself.

Mysterious dark blue hoodie guy goes up to Cade's booth. "Hey brother" he greets Cade. "Hi Dare" he greets back. "We need to talk" he tells Cade. "Sure" he replies to him. "Away from Calum" he responds seeing as Cade wasn't getting ready to leave his seat. Calum kept trying to get a glimpse of what Darren looked like but his hood was covering his face too much for him to see his face.

"What is it?" Cade asks Darren while they're walking out of the nightclub. Then the two of them go outside where they're sure Calum can't see or hear them. Darren takes his hood off of his head. "I thought you said you weren't going to interfere with my plans for him. So, what are you doing here with him?" he replies and asks him a question. "I wasn't being honest with you about that" he answers Darren. "Can't you just leave him alone and find someone else to play your games with" he responds to him. "I'm not playing games! You are!" He shouts to Darren. "I know I am! You're the one who can't admit to playing games!" He shouts back at Cade. "You're so annoying!" He shouts to Darren. "You're more annoying!" he shouts back. Cade storms away from the nightclub. Meanwhile Darren pulls his hood over his head again and walks back into the nightclub.

He goes back to where Calum is seated. "Stay away from me!" He shouts to Darren. "Why would I wanna do that?" He replies a rhetorical question. Calum tries to leave but he grabs his arm pulling him back. "Let go of me!" He screams. Darren takes out a knife and stabs Calum in the chest. He falls to unconsciousness quickly. He finds it really difficult to breathe. He eventually dies after a little while. Darren doesn't leave the scene after that.
