Chapter 22 ● I don't wanna isolate myself from people who care about me ○

Calum wakes up after a few hours. His head has finally stopped aching. He feels like everything that's been happening to him lately is isolating him from his friends. His friends who have stuck by him even though he hasn't been spending much time with them. It's the darkness he's stepped into since Darren entered his mind. A darkness he won't be able to overcome without a fight.

I need to get rid of the control I have over Calum's mind that would officially keep me out of Darren's game. Cade thinks to himself. Maybe Daphne could help he continues to think to himself.

"You better get ready to meet her today" Darren tells Calum through his thoughts. "Fine" he replies to Darren. "What time and where?" He adds a question to him. "Let's say 6:00 in the evening at the nightclub" he replies to Calum. "Okay" he responds.

Calum goes downstairs. He really wants to spend more time with his friends when Darren and Cade aren't bothering him. "Hey guys, shall we go out somewhere?" Calum tells them whilst taking a seat on the couch. "I'm up for it" Ashton replies. "I'll come" Michael replies. "I'm in" Luke replies. "Great, so where shall we go?" Calum asks. "I heard about a new cafe that's opened up around here, maybe we could try it out?" Ashton suggests. "Sure" Calum replies. "Okay" Luke replies. "I'm fine with anywhere so long as I get something to eat and drink" Michael replies.

Soon enough the four of them are ready. They get ready and decide to go by car since it'll be quicker and none of them felt like walking. They reach the cafe and find a table to take a seat at.

"I'm unsure of Darren's plans, but what I do know is that he's trying to make me distant to you guys for some reason" Calum tells Michael, Luke and Ashton. No one finds the right words to reply to Calum. "I don't wanna lose our close friendship bond I'm so afraid that he's gonna drag me away from all of you and throw me into a new life in which I'm me but a different version of me" he adds. He pauses a bit. "A version of me that none of you are gonna like, a version of me that doesn't care about anyone but him" he finishes. "If that happens we will do whatever it takes to bring this version of you back" Ashton replies to Calum's mini speech. "What if I'm too far gone?" Calum responds.

"Have a little faith in us Calum we will get you back" Michael responds back. "I just wanna let you guys know that... the real me would never do anything with the intention to hurt any of you... and I love you guys too much... I just don't know when Darren is gonna strike... and I get a feeling it's gonna be soon" He tells them. "How can you be sure he's gonna change who you are?" Luke questions.

Calum recollects the events that happened in his dream from when he was resting. "I need you to do me a favour" Darren tells Calum. "Whatever you need Dare" he replies to him. "I need you to go outside and get the first person you see in here so I can feed on them" he requests him. "I'll do it" he replies. "Thanks pup" he responds. "No problem" he responds back. The first person who happens to pass by is Leo. Calum manipulates him into following him into Darren's house. Then directs him to Darren's room. He basically led him to his death.

Leo is my friend and I would never want do anything like that to him, If I could do that to Leo in my dream that means I might also hurt Ashton, Luke and Michael and I definitely don't want that to happen, I almost screamed when I went through that dream, but then I realised if I did scream my best friends would worry about me and I hate that Calum thinks to himself. He once again managed to isolate himself from his friends without meaning to. "Calum!" Michael shouts making him jump which makes him lose track of his thought and snaps him back to reality. "Oh uh sorry what?" He replies to Michael. "What are you going to order?" Michael responds. Calum hadn't even taken a look at the menu yet. "Umm... what do you recommend?" He asks the waitress. "There's a coffee that most our customers seem to li--" the waitress starts but Calum cuts her off before she could finish. "I'll try it" he replies and she adds it to her list she was making on her tablet. "Is that all?" She asks all of them. "Can we also have a plate of the freshly baked cookies?" Luke asks. "Sure" she replies adding that to her list as well.

"You never answered my question" Luke tells Calum his lips forming into a pout after telling him that. "I'm sorry, I had a nightmare about it" he finally answers the question Luke asked minutes ago before Calum got distracted.

I know I said I didn't want to control Calum's mind and stop playing Darren's game but I had to give him some warning to beware of Darren. What better way to do so than a bad dream? He needs to know that so he could take caution while dealing with him and hopefully protect himself from him. I know I told Darren I wouldn't stand in the way of his plans, but I can't let Darren get away with doing what he did to Valley to another person. Cade thinks to himself.

"You said you would be at the nightclub at 6:00 in the evening" Darren reminds Calum through his thoughts. "I don't care what I said earlier. I won't let you control me. I'm never gonna follow your commands. And if I go there remember I'm going there because I'm curious about who your friend is not because I'm following your command" he replies.

"Who were you talking to?" Ashton asks. "Darren" Calum replies. "What does he want now?" Luke asks Calum. "He wants me to meet one of his friends today" he replies. Calum checks the time on his phone seeing it's already 6:00 pm. "Guys I've gotta go" he tells them. "You didn't even finish your drink" Michael comments. "You can have it if you want" he replies to Michael's comment. He then takes out his wallet and puts money to pay for the drinks and the cookies on the table near where he was previously seated. "I'll see you guys at home later" he tells them.

And he's done it again he's left them again. I keep doing this... I say I need to spend more time with my friends and end up leaving them for something because of Darren Calum thinks to himself whilst he walks towards the nightclub.
