Chapter 43 ● Lost alone in the forest, or not? ○

An icy wind blows around Calum, he wraps his arms around himself to try to keep warm. I have to get back home he thinks to himself as he walks around the forest. It seems like he's walking around this place but the scene doesn't change. I don't get this. I'm walking around but I'm still in the same place. I feel like I'm on a treadmill or something He thinks to himself as he stopped walking.

"Do any of you know where Calum went?" Ashton asks Luke and Michael. "Nope, I've not seen him since earlier today" Luke replies to him. "I don't know where he is either" Michael replies too. "I checked his room and he isn't there and I've also tried his phone but he won't answer" Ashton tells them. "Oh no! That means he could be in trouble" Luke replies. "We have to find him" Ashton replies. "Yeah we do, where do we look first?" Michael asks. "The nightclub?" Luke suggests. "Alright, let's head there" Ashton replies.

Am I even up? Is this place haunted? Darren probably killed loads of people around here Calum thinks to himself. A twig from a nearby tree snaps and falls on his shoulder. He jumps a bit then he realises what it was and just flicks it off.

Michael, Luke and Ashton make their way to the nightclub. They finally reach but it's usually very lively environment is gone dim. They rush in. "Something isn't right around here" Michael says aloud. "Oh something terrible happened here" Valley replies to him. "What happened?" Luke questions her. "It was like a bomb blasted out of nowhere and destroyed everything we owned here all the drinks and everything is broken into small shards of glass" she answers. "That's awful" Ashton replies. "Have you seen Calum by any chance?" Michael asks Valley. "Yeah, he's over there" she replies gesturing to a booth at the far end of where they're standing.

Calum hears growls and looks behind him and sees the shadow of a huge creature. Where the hell did that come from? He questions his thoughts. He decides to stay still hoping it wouldn't notice him. All of a sudden a feather falls on his nose making him sneeze and that's when the creature notices him.

The three of them walk up to the booth Valley claimed Calum was at. However they don't see him there instead they see someone else with a mask covering their face. "Oh hello, I think you've got the wrong person" he tells them. "Darren" Luke thinks aloud. "I might know where the person you're looking for is" he replies. "Is he hurt?" Ashton questions him. "Not sure, but he could be" he answers him. "Can you tell us where to find him?" Michael asks. "Yeah, but you gotta do something for me first" he replies.

The creature starts to move closer and closer to Calum its creepy features now getting a bit more visable to his eyes. He scarcely sees the black lifeless eyes with a dot of blood red in the centre of them gazing into his soul, the creature is like ten times his height with a thin coat of dark yellow fur covering its body, claws that look like swords, fangs longer and much sharper than a walrus, huge horns, a long tail and ears that resemble a cat's ears but much larger. He trembles and his heart beat races as he runs as fast as he possibly can as the creature chases after him.

"What do you want us to do?" Luke asks Darren. "Let me get into your heads too" he replies to him. "That's not happening" Ashton replies back. "Too bad, you won't find Calum anytime soon then" he responds back. "Fine, I'll let you get inside my head" Michael gives in. Ashton and Luke eventually give in too.

It's only now that Calum realises he's going somewhere and isn't stuck in the same place anymore. He then trips over a tree's root and the creature catches up to him. He now sees a very close up version of the creature and notices he has blood on his claws and fangs indicating it's already hurt someone before. He tries getting up to run again but it seems like he's sprained his ankle. "P-please don't hurt me" he tells the creature stuttering a bit out of fear. It lets out another growl. It then scratches his arm. "Ow!" He exclaims in pain. The scratch is huge it basically covers his whole arm from this hand to his shoulder; the scratch is also pretty deep and he's losing a lot of blood.

"It won't hurt much" Darren tells them. "Really?" Luke asks him. "You know what I'm not sure actually, maybe you should ask Calum" He replies. "No, why would I do that?" He replies back. "How am I supposed to know? Anyways, who's first?" He questions them. "I'll go first" Ashton answers. "Okay, I'll start with you then" he replies.

"Calum!" A voice shouts. Calum carefully moves himself a bit trying to figure out who said his name. "Daphne?" He asks for confirmation. "Yes, it's me" she replies to him. "Did you see that creature?" He questions. "What creature?" She answers a question back. "It was gigantic and yellow" he replies. "I don't think I've seen it" she replies back. "Oh, it hurt me and I didn't even do anything to it, just beware of it" he responds. "Okay, ouch! That looks painful let me help you" she responds gesturing to his wounds. "It is" he responds back.

Darren gets in all three Calum's best friend's heads starting with Ashton's, then Michael's and finally Luke's. "Who's gonna help you now?" Darren thinks aloud with Calum in his thoughts.

"How did you get them?" Daphne questions Calum. "I tripped and hurt my ankle while that creature I told you about was chasing me and then it caught up with me and scratched my arm" he answers her. "Do you want me to heal you with magic? If not I'll tend to your wounds the way a human would" she replies. "I think use magic, I don't trust you tending to my wounds like a human would" he replies back. "Alright" she responds as she uses her magic to heal him. "Thanks" he tells her. "You're welcome" she replies. All of a sudden the creature comes back.

Michael, Ashton and Luke gain back their consciousness again. Their heads are still aching from Darren getting control of their minds. "Fuck! My head hurts so bad" Michael complains. "Mine too" Luke complains as well. "Same here" Ashton adds to the complaining. "I know" Darren replies to their complaining. "Where is Calum?" Ashton questions Darren. "He's in a forest" he answers him. "Which forest?" He asks him. "The one Cade and Daphne led you to" he replies.

"Shit! It's back!" Calum yells. "The creature?" Daphne asks for confirmation. "Yeah" he confirms. "I don't see it" she replies. "It's right there" he replies back gesturing to it. "There's nothing there" she responds. "What?" he asks confused. He then takes his phone out and tries to take a picture of it but it doesn't show up on his screen. "You've got to be kidding me!" he exclaims. "What is it?" She asks. "I tried taking a picture of it to show you but it wouldn't show up on my screen" he replies. "Maybe you're imagining it" she replies back. "I'm not it scratched my arm, you saw the scratch didn't you?" He responds a question to her. "Yeah I did" she answers him. "The creature that is apparently only seen by my eyes did that" he replies. "That's strange" she replies back.

Luke, Michael and Ashton go to the forest that Cade and Daphne had led them to not too long ago. "Calum!" They all call as they walk around there. They finally spot him. They rush towards him.

"Guys do you see that?" Calum questions them gesturing to the creature again. "See what? There's nothing there" Michael replies to him. "There's supposed to be a creature that chased him and scratched his arm over there" Daphne replies back to them. "But he hasn't got a scratch on his arm" Luke points out. "Yeah that's cause I healed it with my magic" she replies. "We gotta run" Calum tells them as he sees the creature move a bit.

Oh no you aren't gonna get away from it anytime soon Calum. You're gonna have to stay just that little bit longer Darren thinks to himself. He then makes Ashton, Luke and Michael get headaches again. This time it's worse than last time. The three of them hold their hands to their heads it's that bad.

"Are you guys okay?" Calum questions his friends as he stops trying to leave to make sure they're alright. "Not really to be honest" Michael answers. "Yeah Darren keeps giving us terrible headaches" Luke adds to Michael's answer. "What?!" Calum asks surprised. "It's true" Ashton replies. "That's awful" Calum replies back. "Yeah Darren is awful" Daphne responds. Then all of a sudden they hear Calum screaming and he's gone from the place they're at. "Where did Calum go?" Michael asks noticing that he has suddenly disappeared. "I think the creature that he was warning us about took him" Daphne replies.
