I just figured Tyler couldn’t go when he didn’t text me about it, but I wasn’t expecting a text from Gage.

Gage: Hey Harper,
too late for a ride to
the airport?

My first inclination is to assume he’s texting for Ty; Maybe his phone broke or something?

Gage is quick to clear it up though, sending two follow-up messages after the first.

Gage: Ty isn’t going.
But I’d really like to, if
that’s okay?
Gage: I’m already ready.
I know its last minute.

I start typing a message back before I realize it, the punctuality in me automatically kicking into action at the thought of running late.

But why the hell is Gage going to see Hayden, and not Ty?

Harper: Yeah, I can be there.
Harper: But how come?
What happened?

I close out of my messages and grab my keys, figuring he can just explain it on the way. My mind flies in a million different directions as I continue to question it. Is Tyler pulling some shit like he did with Harlee?

Flashbacks to the beginning of the end of their relationship flood my mind, bringing on a small panic attack as I climb into my car.

Hayden could not handle that.

I have to take a few meditative breaths to get myself under control, trying my hardest not to jump the gun.

Ty is so in love with Hayden... he wouldn’t do that!

Even last week when I was having my doubts about doing the right thing for her? And when my mom blew up on him because he’s got a bad track record? All he did was fight to make his love for her known!

I calm myself down enough to pull out of our driveway, heading to Ty and Gage’s place in a hurry. My mind bounces back and forth between expecting the worst, and convincing myself I’m being pessimistic at a rate that makes it overwhelming.

Tyler hurts because of what Hayden did, and I know that he’s having his doubts about being the baby’s father. She was so sure this would work but then had to run away, and now he might find out.

If this has anything to do with that, and this is how he’s responding under suspicion?

We might have a problem...
