“I’m not getting involved in this,” Dan says, crossing his arms over his chest. He looks at me as if I’m crazy. “I already told you I’m not getting involved in any of her craziness. Why would you-“
I cut him off to jut my bottom lip out in a way that I know will draw his eyes to them. “Dan, please!” I plead, “I only need you to be the messenger! If it’s me, it’ll be too suspicious when she tries to lie about me!”
His brows flatten, but I’m not taking no for an answer.
I caught him running through the community room on a favor for Crystal. Everyone else has quiet time, so this may be my only opportunity to convince him.
My plan won’t work without a messenger.
“I don’t know what you want me to do,” He says after a moment, frustration in his voice.
I go over the plans again in my head, consulting with the fight-or-flight voice that formed once Ren backed me into a corner.
Not only would Ren exposing my nightly outings with Ryan ruin shit for Hayden; It would also put too much, even if only a little focus on the shit Dane has going on in here.
I can’t have that… at all. He’d kill me, and everyone else in here too!
“I just need you to report Ren missing from her room tomorrow night. You can tell them you were going to meet her… they’ll be too concerned about the fact that she’s gone to reprimand you!” I say, sounding confident as I try to persuade him. “She’s been sneaking out, and I’m just trying to end it! It’s… wrong!”
He flattens his brows again, so I’m quick to add on.
“It needs to be believable,” I say, forcing a small giggle. “It’s not like you really-“
Dan interrupts me, growing frustrated based on the look he wears.
“What do I get?” he snaps, crossing his arms over his chest again. He shifts his weight to the opposite leg. “If I help you… what are you going to do for me?”
