It was really unfortunate those people wouldn’t allow a late visitation with Hayden today since we flew out here, but I didn’t make a big stink about it.

I’m still trying to process the dang meeting with Dr. Sandra Reyborn! The nerve of the woman!

It started off so well! She told me Hayden was progressing through three more diagnoses, and that her recovery was impressive! And then had the nerve to suggest a longer treatment plan!

It made no sense!

“Maybe that’s how they trick you!” Harper says beside me as we make our way back to the airport. “They know she’s famous, mom! It’s how they siphon the money out of you!”

I flatten my eyes, pursing my lips to the side as I gently shove her. “Harper! Don’t be ridiculous!” I exclaim with a small laugh.

She’s got to be right though; At least that makes sense!

I know Hayden is a troubled girl; It’s never been a secret! I’m sure her problem is probably more along the lines of self-restraint. She’s got bad habits I think she needs to work on, but it’s not something she needs to stay hospitalized for!

She needs rules, regulations! Not someone pounding it into her damned head that she’s crazy! How’s that supposed to help the girl heal? Too much of that’d drive anyone insane!

“So what’re you going to do?” Harper asks after a few moments. “Please don’t keep her locked up in there, mom. She’ll do better! If we just... work with her, I think we could make the same progress!”

I roll my eyes, glancing at Harper before returning my eyes to the road. I let out a small sigh. “Harper Catherine!” I say, my voice stern enough to grasp her attention. “That’s my daughter. I wouldn’t keep her locked up in there.”
